I haven't seen anybody defending it really. If you look at the reddit AMA done by Maxis team, people were outraged with the always on DRM. This is why I'm not buying this game ever. I travel internationally a lot and a steady internet connection is a luxury. Fcuk EA and this shitty DRM
They are the minority but they are out there.
That fact there are any of them though is bad enough. I mean this should have cemented it for anyone with two brain cells, nut the fact it didn't just tells me ea is correct in their assumption they can get away with this kind of thing because enough people won't accept it that they make the business model feasible as the rest of us get dragged along.
I honestly think the only way the message gets to each is if a lot of people do charge backs thus getting banned from origin.
That speaks pretty loudly and makes a powerful statemtn, unfortunately likely at a great cost to the end user.
unfortunately, this shitty DRM actually works
pirates haven't cracked the game, and it'll prob take them a while to do it.
FYI, anyone who's d/ling the Skidrow "crack", you're helping someone to Bitcoin farm, congrats =)
Yup, this and Diablo/Starcraft have squatted all piracy concerns. However at what cost? I'm sure without this DRM, Maxis/EA could have made a lot more sales from life long fans of the series. I know you're going to bring up your CoD boycott example but that is not nearly the same scale as this. A single player game that requires constant online connection =/= an online multiplayer game that doesn't come with local LAN (minor caveat IMO)
I'm right 97% of the time. Who cares about the other 4%
Is it getting better? My game came today, I got my graphics card fixed, and I'd like to play this evening.
nope, global launch was today lol.
EA's disabled some non essential features to alleviate the congestion.
This is even worse than Diablo III launch now. I'd say its as bad as World of Warcraft's 1st Expansion launch. My server at the time was basically unplayable for a month, blizzard had to credit us the playtime back
To go ahead with the Global launch while the situation hasn't been fixed is really shitty. What a poorly run company.
It seems their CSRs were implying that after the global go live things would be better because there would be more servers... I guess they are assuming they made no sales in other regions that would result in more users using those servers also?
