I bought some M50's a few months back and love em. Anybody know the main differences between these two, soundwise?
You give up some range with the M50s, but the highs and lows are produced so much better with the A900x that most people find them worthwhile upgrades to the M50s.

Ha ha. Just what I was hoping/expecting to hear. The fact that Monster produces Beats turned me off instantly. Any company that has the gaul to try to charge me $100 [bestbuy.com] for an HDMI cable needs to have their CEO tied to a chair and pistol whipped.
Agree in general, but their IEMs sound great; if you can catch a good price on them (Turbine Pro Gold are $150 right now [amazon.com]), you'll be happy.

Nice price, but I still can't justify upgrading my HD595's. Maybe some other day!
I bought these when my 595s died. Sound is amazing and I can no longer hear my wife yelling at me to do chores while i play games and listen to music

A900 has bigger sound stage and better clarity. Overall the A900 is a more well rounded headphone. The M50 has better isolation (it is more geared towards portable use after all).

This is the A900 though not A900X. The A900X is IMO a bit of a downgrade from the original A900 but overall they are similar enough.

hehehehehe.

I love the open style so much, I don't know if I would enjoy the switch to closed cans.

Same boat. I love the natural sound...feeling like it's coming from a set of speakers instead of a pair of headphones. There's no comparing the soundstage.

Just be weary of the comfort issues. There are some posts on head-fi stating that the wing style is not that strong so you may have to keep pushing these up on your head to keep them from riding on the tops of your ears.

Can someone tell me where this headphone was made?

Not sure about these specifically, but they still make a lot of their higher end products in Japan. I'm pretty sure the M50s and ATH-AD700s are made in Taiwan. They have some low end stuff out of China. I have a feeling that they're probably like a lot of places, they might have parts made in China and shipped to Japan for testing/assembly on higher end products. Whether or not this is one of those higher end products made in Japan, though, is another question.

How do you like them compared to the 595s? I have a set of 598s which I believe are essentially the same.

Except these are closed

And for the record, you do not need an amp for these' According to the folks at Head Fi you would see little to no improvement. I would post the link but I'm on a tablet
