The blem was indeed a very small cosmetic imperfection. It's the first thing I looked for, and I had to look hard. I wouldn't have even considered it an imperfection, just something acceptable, not too unlike coin grading. It would fall in the mint catagory, 100% full luster (66-70, 70 being perfect) it would be a 67 or 68. Ok, lol, this is the part you were waiting for. After a very critical exam, the blem is a tiny fade in the black coating. And I'm talking tiny. I wouldn't have even considered it a flaw, just part of the manufacturing process, but after taking a magnified glass to it and not finding anything else, I came to that conclusion. I'd post a picture, but in wouldn't show in the bandwidth they allow to upload here. I'd have to macro pic it at least 5 megapixels and I'm not sure my camera goes that low and my iPhone just can't get close enough to show the contrast in the coating. It's with is less than a dime and as long as three dimes stacked. Like I said, you'd only know it was there if you were told it was. Great deal for $30. If I were you, and had I known, I'd get the one with S30V steel. Sure it's another $30 bucks, but you get a liftime warrantee with free sharpening (won't be too much of an issue with this steel but you'll be glad because of the recurve blade). And blade shape, btw, the tanto with its partial serration, is 90% tactical, not a great choice for EDC unless that would be its purpose. For practical everyday use, the S30V blade with a slight recurve should be your first choice. In hindsite it would have been mine.

It does seem heavy at first. My EDC was one of my three Leeks for almost 5 years (I kept misplacing mine and my Dad, RIP, would keep replacing it for me, only for me to refind the misplaced one). The Blur only weighs 4 oz, which is not bad considering the twice as expensive ZT0350 in more than 50% heavier at 6.2 oz. The Leek is my most comfortable EDC, and I didn't get to many 'strange' looks when I would cut up my huge Fuji apple everyday. I'm sure it will triple when I do decide to switch to one of my Blurs, especially so with the serrated tanto. One thing I don't love about the Blurs are the rubber like inserts in the handle for gripping, which maybe to a fault, it does to well. If you ware jeans and have a tight front pocket (if that is your pocket of choice) it does not like to smoothly slide out. Wish it had a textured handle like the ZT0560. If you can't see yourself getting used to its heft, the Leek or the slightly smaller Scallion are awesome choices. If I were you, I'd get one of each!

Yes, if you ask me that's the biggest blemmish on any of the blem models! The blems have XXXX stamped on the side of the blade, and it would just stare at me every time I use it.

Blems have no warrantees

Kershaw's warrantees do include lifetime sharpening

These prices aren't close to retail, never pay retail, that word is Blasphemous here! LOL. To answer you, it all depends. For a tactical knife that's not likely to be used, e.g. A tanto Blur, I'd say no. It's not a great knife (blade type) IMO for everyday use. The same Blur with the recurve blade, I'd say yes if it's not significantly more, which is subjective and only you can answer. Just so you know, I have read that the recurve blades are a pain to sharpen, so the free sharpening would come in handy. And if your a heavy knife user, any problems that occurs years from now get fixed or replaced for free.
And as someone else noted, the four XXXX's across the blade does not make you want to show it off, which is a shame for such beautifully functional knives.

Concerning the metric system, it was the American people who resisted its implication, besides, is it not preferable to not implement something people don't want. Also, it was never promised or forced, it was completely voluntary (except for government agencies). The U.S. Metric Study recommended that the United States implement a carefully planned transition to the principal use of the metric system. Not sure who's still waiting for it? It is on the other hand considered universal. Currently there are 240 countries around the world, and the USA is the only one not using the metric system. The last two holdouts were Liberia and Burma, which covered in 2007 leaving just us.

The Middle East will be in pieces before it knows peace. New York City has roughly 6000 synchronized traffic lights. I'm still waiting for flying cars and holographic tv's . Women's shoes, umm, NO THANK YOU! No comment. I take the fifth. Hear that, someone's at the door. Battery is dying. Hay, are those the four horsemen . . . .

They SWORE to us when I was in early elementary school that the metric system was 'taking over'(as I mentioned...5 decades ago). They didn't ask what we 'wanted'. Of course, this was the same school system that had us working problems in 'base 2' /Binary system as though that would help folks understand computers.

'They' also promised a 'paperless society'...no checks needed, virtually no need for cash...this was in the '70s. Of course, interest rates were 16-20%. so I'm glad they didn't hold on to everything!

That 'a carefully planned transition to the principal use of the metric system' sure is taking its own sweet time. Two or three generations later, nobody asked ME if I'm ready to switch. You could probably fool some folks into thinking the price of gasoline went DOWN if you sold it by the liter ! Are these the same folks who keep minting pennies and dollar coins?(not to mention the two-dollar bill)
