why not a straight USB wifi adapter if you are going to use on a desktop? or straight pcie wifi adapter?
When I was looking for a desktop wireless card, it became clear that there was a much better selection of mini-PCIe cards. I had been happy with the 5300 in my laptop, so when it came time to buy a desktop card, I decided I wanted the 6300, which had just been released. For me it was worth the extra $7 to buy the adapter and use the card of my choosing.
