Acr'teryx is definitely a case where you get what you pay for. If you're buying for the brand, there are others you can do so, but if you're buying for absolute best quality, functionality and longevity, they're at the top of the heap.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Sidewinder or Stingray vs a Patagonia Primo? I just got the Primo a couple weeks ago during the Patagonia sale and want to know how these Arcteryx shells compare.

I have a stingray jacket and it's the best jacket I've ever owned hands down. Ridiculously expensive but bombproof.'
I skied at Sugarloaf during Nemo and was on the summit with -5 degree temps and a -40 wind chill factor and was comfy cozy. |

This is still pretty expensive. I got the Marmot Troll Wall a few years ago for around $210 from STP. I doubt anyone is actually going to pick this one up at $345...
|

I got a '06-'07 model Sidewinder SV for $250 in the fall of '07....canada made, older design, size XL runs small. It has about.....250-300 days on it and is still going strong.
Not sure about the new stuff, seems like they could be headed more mainstream like TNF, and I would not really consider them a premium brand, just overpriced. Want a really nice expensive jacket, look at KJUS. |

If you think Arc'teryx apparel isn't of premium quality, that sounds like a personal opinion to me--and they have a legion of fans that would wholeheartedly disagree. If you want the best stuff, obviously you should pay more for Canadian-made. |
