Really? I have been following prices on this brand for well over a year and rarely see prices go that low.

Unless you wear an XL or dont mind hideous colors, it is very difficult to find good prices on this. Perhaps you are thinking of patagonia.

No, not Patagonia. Lots of places have sales on these jackets usually from January to right about this time. Alpha, Beta, Theta, and various other models go on sale somewhat often. Sidewinder is more rare but they also go on sale. Just gotta wait for the right time to buy them.

I own a Gamma AR and might get a Theta.

Patagonia gear does get blown out, but typically only on their own site 1-2 times a year. And even then, it's usually crap colors and crap sizes. Most retailers don't put patagonia gear on discount.

The person you were responding to doesn't know what he's talking about. Only discontinued arcteryx and past seasons get discounted this heavily. While the prices are good, you have to take resale value into mind (ie ebay). The sidewinder can be had new for way less than $345 on ebay--the Stingray jacket is the better deal at $300-$350 on the bay. Used is another matter.

Ohh I checked ebay earlier today and didnt see any. Do they randomly appear or is there a pattern?

Im not doubting people but I just dont know where people see these things sometimes lol

Whoops, I take that back--I must have been searching for something else. New, that model is generally selling for closer to $450-$550. I absolutely HATE the blue color though--and others agree apparently... that color is selling for $250-$400 new.

Do you have to wear a lot of layers with the Stingray? Its a soft shell only with a thin layer of insulation. So I can't imagine it being too warm on its own. I was thinking about getting it until I saw that its a soft shell only. I understand that its great quality with a lifetime warranty, but I can't imagine paying this much for a shell only.
