Windows 8 Display Driver Keeps Stopping & Recovering Error
So since I got my new lappy last week I've noticed when playing a game there is occasion black flash. Now all of a sudden today I keep getting the following error: Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. It appears to be a known issue that has had fixes for win 7 but I have yet to come across something for windows 8. Anyone else running into similar and have you found a fix? I have checked to make sure my video drivers are indeed up to date.Processor: 3rd gen Intel® Core™ i7-3632QM quad-core processor (2.20GHz / 3.20GHz with Turbo Boost) Operating System: Windows 8 Pro 64-bit Memory: 8GB (4GB x2) DDR3-1600MHz Graphics (Video Card): AMD Radeon™ HD 7550M (2GB) dedicated graphics |

You could try downgrading to early drivers to see if that helps, or try out any beta drivers that you can find to see if they solve it. Other than that, re-installing Windows could help, or it could be a hardware issue. I would say contact the vendor like komondor said and see if they can do anything for you if nothing else works.
Good luck .

What is the make and model of your laptop? Have you fully updated to the latest Windows updates.
On a new machine with these types of issues there is a high chance that you could have received a defective machine. If you can provide the make and model I'll see if I can dig up any recall info or anything of that nature. |

. If the issue persists I would contact the manufacturer and have it replaced. You could also try uninstall all graphics drivers, rebooting, then reinstalling from scratch.Let us know how it goes. |

To the OP: Removing the driver first, assures you that you get rid of anything that was corrupt, etc. I frequently go direct to Intel's site to be sure that I get the latest chipset, and sometimes another driver or two. This link [intel.com] is to the Intel site's automatic driver checker. I'm fairly certain that you need to have Java and Flash installed on your browser, for it to work. There is absolutely no danger to installing the small app that Intel needs to probe your machine. I've been using this service for many years without incident but with lots of success in getting the best suited chipsets and graphics drivers. |

Try this tool from AMD: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudown...-64.aspx#1 Steve Gibson on password policies [grc.com]: I mean, I don't get this change it every eight weeks. ... It's not as if passwords are traveling by camel after they've been stolen, going to the bad guys, and so there's, like, some weird eight-week window, like, oh, we're going to change your password so that the stale password no longer works. ... And all this does is make IT people despised because users, who are not dumb, they think, why am I - why do I have to do this? What problem is this solving?
