The reason for having a cook top that is separate from the oven is so you can put the oven up higher (built into a tall cabinet) so you don't have to bend down to get stuff out of it. It's more expensive than a range (all in one) but a really nice feature.
Happiness and depression are both feelings, just like joy and anger. It's not feelings that give us problems. It's what we do with them that makes the difference.

I have had both can't beat double ovens with a cooktop having 2 full ovens at eye height is really nice

The one house I had built essentially custom, I had a cooktop on the island, and a separate wall oven. I would definitely do that again, given the opportunity (and the budget).

double wall oven will come in handy more than you realize. Plus it will increase resale value more than a traditional range.

Wait, are you thinking of just doing a cooktop and a separate oven underneath that? If so, then just go with the slide in. If you are not going with a double wall oven, no point in not having a single unit.

I don't think it's very safe to have a slide in an oven. It's not really a place to play.

Next house in ~5 years I plan on going with cooktop , double wall oven, and hopefully full size side by side built in fridge & freezer setup.
