All the tris they make are great quality. Amazon has reviews of many. I recently got the Atlas Tri-Climate and love it. But I also picked up a Zero Exposure 4 in 1 and, honestly, not much difference quality wise or warmth wise and half the price.

The one I like the best in this batch is the Headwall Tri-Climate because the liner is a great jacket in and of itself. I have a liner similar and it is good for most of the year and very light weight. And it ran $59 all by itself, so really, this is a bargain.

Any of these jackets good for Southern California weather? I want something light and breathable that is enough to keep me warm in 40-50°F chilly mornings and not too heavy where I have to take it off later once the temperature gets to around 70

it'll definitely keep you warm. but it'll be drenched in your sweat by the end of the day. i would try to look for something lighter for layering with a shell.

Can the Men's Redpoint Micro Full-Zip Jacket or Denali Down Jackets be used as an inner jacket for a TriClimate Jacket? I want a thicker inner jacket than the one that came with my TriClimate jacket.

It's TNF... They have a few good items and lots of crap... Be careful what you buy and avoid the Denali like the plague.

Also if you intend to use the shells/jackets for snowsports... none of these looks to have a helmet compatible hood. IMO a helmet compatible hood should be a minimum requirement when purchasing an outer layer for snowsports. Really nice to be able to put the hood over the helmet and cinch on those really cold/windy days. Also looks like none of these have taped seams or waterproof zippers. These might work for the mall but I wouldn't buy these to ski/board/snowshoe or hike...
