Tascam DR-40 Refurbished $89.99+tax at Guitar Center, Full 1-year warranty

Do you know the warranty on the DR-40? This looks very interesting for our church recordings.

I called Guitar Center to ask about the warranty, and even the rep didn't know... so he went to the Tascam website and it sounds like there's a 90 day warranty on the restock/refurb units.

I was wondering about that myself. Thanks! I'm not surprised. 90 days is pretty typical for refubs.

Think it would be worth chancing it? I've been looking at the lower end models for $75 to $80 or so, but if this model would last and be worth $90, we'll get it.

I personally got one. I've been waiting for this one because of the XLR inputs so I haven't paid much attention to the lower end models. There's the school of thought that because they're refurbished, they've been more closely inspected by the manufacturer for common "infant" failures (search "bathtub curve" for more on that).

I did just call Tascam and talked to a sales person. She (sales lady) said that these units are either returns which are checked/repaired and resold or they're demo units and that they carry the full 90-day/1-year (labor/parts) warranty that new units get and come with all the original accessories, as well. The online seller VM Innovations (either through their own site or eBay) also lists refurbs for Tascam carrying a full warranty. AND on Tascam's own site, they sell a factory reconditioned DR-40 (http://tascam.com/store/dr-40/) that explicitly says "Factory reconditioned product with full warranty."

Based on all that, I'm not worried about it.

I received a backorder notification email with no ship date:
"We have yet to receive the out of stock item(s) noted below, but we have more on order with the manufacturer. We will ship them to you as soon as we receive them."

Yeah, the guy on the phone told me he wasn't sure when they were going to get them in, but the website said March 13. I would think you'd probably have it by April, at least.
