Deal Details

Update 4/24:

The Wall Street Journal just e-mailed me with subject "Your Gift for Subscribing to The Wall Street Journal" with a $50 GC. I have already applied the GC successfully to my Amazon account.

Meanwhile, http://wsj.com today is offering a $25 Amazon GC for subscribing to both digital & print editions. However, that $25 GC won't be delivered until 150 days after the initial payment. So the $50 GC deal we got in turned out to be a way better deal.

Update 4/23:

I am sorry if you have not received your GC. I am still waiting for mine too. I never heard back after e-mailing TheWallStreetJournal@e.wsjonline.info. The first time support@wsj.com said to wait 180 days. Then asked for screen shots. The third time support@wsj.com said:

Quote :
Thank you for contacting The Wall Street Journal Online regarding your gift card inquiry. We do apologize for all the delays. Your card does come to you straight from Amazon electronically. We have passed your request on to Amazon for further action.

Update 3/17:

Two more months for free, thanks ready2mosh and alp44.
http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=58259458&postcount=240

Steps:
  • Visit http://wsj.com/starbucks
  • Because we have signed up already, click on "Already have username and password?", Continue. No need to sign up again, no need to enter code.

In Customer Center, your next payment date should show 8/x/2013.

Update 3/9:

The Wall Street Journal just e-mailed me with subject "Thank you for your recent order" that confirms:
Quote :
Your recent subscription order includes a $50 Amazon.com Gift Card. With an active paid subscription, your gift card will be delivered electronically 45 days from the date of purchase.
I think the date of purchase is 3/7. So if you have not canceled already, you should receive your $50 GC by around 4/21.
(After you Log In, in Customer Center, for WSJ Digital your STATUS should say Active. You paid $21.99 on 3/7. So you have an "active paid subscription".)

If you want to cancel:

I plan to enjoy my subscription for at least the next 3 months (I prefer and use Bing for all my searches, but I had to use google news search to read WSJ articles for free. Now I can skip google news.). If you want to cancel before the end of the 3-month trial period, please see:

http://online.wsj.com/public/page...ement.html
Quote :
4. Cancellation and Renewal. Your subscription will renew automatically, unless it is cancelled in accordance with this Section. For annual subscriptions, we will notify you of the pending renewal of your subscription at least 30 days prior to the date your subscription renews, except as otherwise required by law. For all subscriptions, you must cancel your subscription before it renews in order to avoid billing of subscription fees for the renewal term to your credit card. We may cancel your subscription at any time by notifying you. You may cancel your subscription by calling Customer Service at (800) 975-3913. We do not accept cancellations by mail or email or by any other means other than calling Customer Service.

Original post on 3/7:

If you visit http://wsj.com today, you get a banner. The banner leads to:

https://buy.wsj.com/shopandbuy/or...e=aap7bz1l

It says "Your credit card will be charged $21.99 for the first three months. . . ." At the bottom it says "This is a special offer made available for first time subscribers to The Wall Street Journal Digital Plus. Sales tax may apply."

I wish it says how soon I'd get the $50 Amazon GC. But it seems like a deal to buy a $50 Amazon GC for $22. What do you think?

My own thoughts: CSRs have been all over the place as to when I would receive the GC. But I think the offer is simple: "SUBSCRIBE TO WSJ & get a $50 Amazon.com Gift card." You just need to subscribe to WSJ to fulfill your part of the bargain; nowhere does it say how long you have to subscribe to WSJ for. The fact that you get 3 months when you pay the price of 1 is simply an added bonus. The added bonus is not an additional requirement. Nowhere does it say you have to pay for 3 months of subscription in order to get the Amazon GC.

Wow you've got to be kidding me. I bought the subscription and they said that the offer expired when I bought it. I bought it at March 7, 2013..... The hell is with this? I called them 3 times already and nothing happened.... Anyone else having trouble with this or what I can do?

For goodness sakes, why don't you call them up on the phone? And confirm your gift card at the same time.

at first I bought it at March 7 2013
Then I was patient and waited 5-6 days for the confirmation e-mail regarding the $50 gift card. I e-mailed them, but it took forever to respond so I went up and called them. They said they would look into it.

March 14 2013, I gave them another call and another e-mail regarding about the gift card, but they said my account was not subscribed under the deal, which was complete bullshart. The e-mail date in which I recieved the e-mail saying "welcome to WSJ" was on march 7th. i only opened that tab and subscribed to it with the deal showing.

I sent 1 more e-mail (because the CSR from March 14th told me to e-mail 'amazongiftcard@dowjones.com" in which I did and its March 20th now. still nothing. I think I'm going to cancel because this is a complete headache for me. Not sure if I should give it 1 more shot because of the 2 month free subscription date... as in a few more days to talk to them and see if they misplaced my account...

EDIT: & the code didnt work for me to extend it by 2 months lol. greattttttttttttt. WSJ is just pulling my nuts -_____-

if your account works and you can prove your purchased it on March 7, you don't have anything to worry about. Wait the 6 weeks and see if you get the card. If not , contact your bank and ask for a chargeback.

I just called them again and the girl was really nice. She wasn't specific, but she said I would receive the amazon gift card through e-mail in 6-8 weeks or 45 days. I'm not sure how to check if I am receiving it. Do you click WSJ.com -> Customer Center -> My Gifts/Subscription? And by the way, I'm still pretty new to credit cards and debit cards. I'm pretty amazed that I can still get a charge-back o_O even after 6 weeks has passed. I thought once you purchase a product, you have like 4 weeks to disable it or something lol or else you cannot refund. Thanks though =)

EDIT: she did not send me an amazon e-mail confirmation. this was done all by phone.

wow. so much of a f**king headache. decided to cancel. 3 CSR's said i wasnt able to get it while 1 said I was. Decided to cancel and only got 18.64 out of 21.99 back because they said I had 3 weeks to use it, but didn't so they charged me 3.35 for that... don't care anymore WSJ is so sketchy. Don't even know what they're talking a bout half the time. Worst customer experience ever.
No wonder they got a C + in BBB...
