Might wantto read what you link , champ. The wired article says the gap is rapidly cclosing and thinks android will soon surpass iOS in revenue, as it is growing quickly and ios is slowing.

Android users can use this now. Keep in mind that you access Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited (MDCU) through a web browser and not through the Marvel app. Depending on the device it can either work okay, or be slow as molasses. They also made recent changes to the web site that makes accessing the comics a little more cumbersome.

Regarding Android devices, I have tried MDCU on a rooted Nook Tablet running the stock OS (built on Gingerbread or Android 2.3) with Firefox Nightly and it works fair, but can be slow and sluggish. I have also tried this with Firefox Nightly and Chrome on an ASUS TF300 Transformer Pad and it works decent. Your mileage may vary...

I would prefer that they allow you to use your Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited subscription through the Marvel app, but apparently it just doesn't work that way. Maybe they can extend the MDCU to the Marvel app in the future...

I'm no expert either, but I'm guessing that maybe there are more apps available for Android that are free and Apple tends to charge for everything.

Something people tend to forget, making apps for the Android OS is a lot less accessible to app developers. There is more rigorous process in place to get an app placed on the Android Market as well as more fees associated with placing such a product. Plus, even though Android may have the larger market in terms of number of users. Furthermore, research shows iOS users are willing to blow tons more money on apps than Android users.

That App is for pay-per-issue. OP posted about the all-you-can-eat for a flat fee. Of course, as others say, the unlimited service has older comics and has gaps, so you may need to use both as a completionist.

I'm a diehard Android user and still recognize that iOS users are the ones spending money. The stats back up this move.

I don't mind older comics, but gaps would annoy the heck out of me. Is it really bad?

I'm not much of a comics reader, but I would like to read some old series that people have liked (e.g. Civil War).

What percentage of those Android users:

a) got the phone for free and actually use it for anything more than calls or the occasional game of Angry Birds
b) read comics on their android device

I would guess the percentages go way down on the android side of things.

Assuming the iPad is the driver of this decision by Marvel, those numbers are probably reversed for tablet users.

If this service were available on Android for DC, I'd be in in a heartbeat.
