still using my trusty T60 and hoping it holds out (it's had some overheating issues) until the haswell machines come out. i'm really interested in the supposed much improved battery life and integrated graphics that haswell apparently brings.
that makes two of us. Runs like new after a reformat.
I think I found a T430 deal that some of you ThinkPad T430 fans might like. The basic T430 on here with 1600 x 900 display upgrade goes for $636. But it has no bluetooth, no Fingerprint reader, a small 320 gb HDD, and just 4gb ram. All that for $636.
Well, if anyone is looking to soup it up a little more, I found this t430 at Lenovo outlet today (brand new!) with the "MADNESS" coupon for $748. It's a t430 with 1600x900, 8gb ram, 128 gb SSD, fingerprint reader, bluetooth, a better network card and (last but not least) a slightly better processor as well -- an i5-3320 instead of the i5-3310 ( I think that alone is $50 to upgrade).
All those upgrades for just $100 more? Seems pretty good.
[Completely agree about the 2200 (or, even worse, the "Thinkpad wifi" device). The3x3 actually makes a big difference to me, fwiw, in both range and throughput. Hopefully, people spending $700+ on laptops are buying dual band 11n or 11ac routers!
QUOTE=kevroc;58092590]Isn't the 3x3 only effective with the 6300? Which isn't a configuration option any longer on it. The best you can do is the 6205 which leaves you with the 2x2 so might as well go with the camera unless you're going to upgrade.[/QUOTE]
how is the wifi on this?
how does dual bankd wifi have any impact on 11n or 11na routers?
Isn't the 3x3 only effective with the 6300? Which isn't a configuration option any longer on it. The best you can do is the 6205 which leaves you with the 2x2 so might as well go with the camera unless you're going to upgrade.
That is what I am thinking too! The current configuration with the i5 processor only offers the Centrino Advance-N 6205, which is only 2x2.
01. How much weight and bulk does the 9-cell battery adds?
02. What is the difference with the X230 convertible Tablet?
Lenovo Part number: 0A65723 - Lenovo 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3 SODIMM Memory (1600MHz)
If someone is looking to upgrade Memory.
Any suggestions for SSD?
I am quite happy with my 500gb Samsung 840 in my x230. The 840 pro is also a good choice, but, really, it's overkill for for most people/applications. Also I notice that the official Lenovo part is actually quite competitively priced at newegg (I'm surprised).
I decided to pull the trigger and ordered the Thinkpad X230 i5-3360M 4GB DDR3 SO-DIMM, IPS Premium HD display, Centrino Advanced-N 6205 AGN, and 320GB HD 7200rpm.
I will upgrade memory and SSD myself and will probably run Win 7 Pro (64-bit). I may try and sell the 4GB DDR3 SO-DIMM module and 320GB HD 7200rpm since I will not be using them.
I can definitely see selling the drive (did the same thing myself when I put in my samsung ssd). However, why would you sell the RAM? Do you really need 16gb of RAM? wow!
