Oh this is awesome. Someone had started a petition on reddit to get this on Steam. And one of the programmers who wrote the game now works for Valve, ES_Matt, I wonder if he had anything to do with it coming to Steam. Hopefully this brings more people to the game. Because right now Voobly and Game Ranger are the only places you can play online.
Pretty cool that they were able to get Microsoft on board with the idea. I guess Microsoft didn't really have anything to lose in the deal
MSN Gaming zone went offline years ago, there wasn't a real solution to playing online with thousands of strangers, until this game is re-released.
Actually... You can play on Game Ranger and Voobly. I feel like there is a surprising large online AOE2 community considering this game was first released in like 1999. Some of the community even teamed together to release a third party expansion recently. It adds a few new civs and techs, its called Age of Forgotten Empires.
The biggest problem is that the game is dated, and Microsoft has not really continued support for it. I would imagine this rerelease will support larger resolutions (I think max is 1028x768 LoL) will probably be addressed along with the any Windows7 compatability issues.
Like what you said have anything related to the topic, lol. More like thread hijacking. Back at ya, rofl. Pathetic rambling imho. If the game is standalone, I would consider. No need for junk/spy wares on my computer. No HDMI on HD kills the deal? hahahahaha.
