Cisco E2000 Wireless Router - Really Slow Internet
So I have charter 30Mbps internet (I've checked with them multiple times and they say there are no degredations or outages in internet speed in my area). I have a brand new motorola DOCSIS 3.0 modem. And I have the Cisco E2000 wireless router setup for N network only. I've checked multiple interent speeds on all 3 of my computers (all of which are fairly new with wireless N capability. I range anywhere from 0.4 to 3.0 Mbps doing the speed checks. Nowhere close to the charter speeds I'm paying for. I will occasionally get a random spike to 20Mbps or so, but it only lasts a minute or two.Looking online there seems to be a lot of problems with the E2000 putting out a slow signal. And people change a bunch of random settings on the router ip access webpage. Which settings should I change? They are all default right now. No clue what any of the settings mean. Thanks! |

Have you connected one of your computers directly to the modem and then run a speed test?
Have you connected one of your computers directly to the wired side of the router and run a speedtest? What type of wireless security do you have on your wifi? Vague questions receive vague answers . . . . . .

Thanks! How do you even know these settings or what they mean? I'll try these out to see if it improves. I have connected directely to the modem and get 20-30Mbps consistantly (leading me to believe it's the router). I have the wireless N security enabled (I think it's called WDM or something?). I have to type in a password get access. |

Okay, that's what I have enabled WPA2, with a good password. I will turn off WPS as well to see if it improves. |
