I was carrying a 1911 cocked and locked...a round in the chamber, hammer back, safety on. My gun had an ambidexterous safety on both sides of the gun. What I didn't like is that I would sit down and hit the outside safety lever on a chair or something and voila, safety was off. Granted there was also the grip safety and the booger hook safety to keep it from going off, I didn't like that as much. If I were to have kept it, I would have had the offside safety taken off.

I changed to a SIG P229 which has no safety but a decocker. The gun takes a fairly decent trigger pull and then it has the SRT trigger system which is a short stroke very much like the 1911's single action trigger. No external safety. To me, the SIG just feels safer (it's technically just as safe as the 1911 but it's all about perception) and less apt to have an accidental discharge.

In an emergency situation, that extra 1/2 to 1 second it takes to take off a 1911's safety could be the difference, since most gun confrontations take mere seconds and are at a distance about arm's length.

In my mind, the SIG combines the best of all worlds....simple functioning, no external safety to forget to take off in an emergency situation, capacity, accuracy and night sights.

The CZ posted here would function about the same, I believe. Not an expert on CZ but I know the Browning Hi Power that this is modeled after (or vice versa, not sure which came first) is a very solid gun.

Did this again, got another code a few days later. You have to obviously get as far enough through the checkout process as to enter your email addy. Code is 5% but different that last time and looks to be only good for 24 hrs.
