As a note, they sold units they hadn't received. Suspected arrival date being Friday the 15th. Not anticipating these shipping out this week at all.

JR.COM have Roku 3 Streaming Player 4200R for $89.99 + Free Shipping.

Roku 3 Streaming Player 4200R [jr.com]

Actual price is $99.99. You have to add this Monster Cable [jr.com] ($0.97) to bring the total more than $100 and apply the coupon "MADNESS" for a discount of $10.00, which will, bring the price of Roku box down to $89.99.

Nice deal. Looks like the Roku 3 isn't much of an upgrade from my XS so I'll pass, but if you're in the market for a new Roku, this deal rocks.

isn't the new processor is much faster? + the audio on the remote.

My understanding is that "faster" simply refers to an all-new on-screen experience which includes one-stop search, but the actual processer is not any faster than the XS. Also the same "faster" interface will be available via an update in May 2013 for the XS and other Roku models. So no difference there.

As far as the remote, the Roku 3 has a headphone jack in the remote. For some that may be awesome. Personally, I would rarely, if ever, use it.

Dual band wireless for Roku 3 vs. single band XS.

Thanks OP for the code and filler. This will replace the older Roku that I use almost everyday. The dual-band wifi and faster processor should speed things along.

BTW, I am certainly no expert on this but early reviews indicate that the Roku 3 does have a faster processor. For example,

"The Roku 3 boasts a more powerful chip inside, which makes this box supposedly five times faster than the Roku 2 XS. At the moment, the faster processor lets you cruise through menus and load apps faster, but it's not hard to imagine more-demanding games or video apps that will be exclusive to the Roku 3's superior hardware in the future."

*EDIT*

Those who have never used a Roku may want to look at DetroitBorg's new YouTube review. It goes through setup and use of the device.

This is incorrect. The processor is much faster on the Roku 3 (Dual Core A9) than on the Roku 2 (ARM 11). I found the Hulu Channel, which is notoriously sluggish and unresponsive quite often on the Roku 2, to be very quick and responsive on the Roku 3. Of course, navigation is also very smooth on the Roku 3 compared to the Roku 2, but that alone wouldn't be worth upgrading to Roku 3 because most other channels work very well on the Roku 2 (Netflix and Amazon are examples of well designed channels.)

Personally, I think if you're a Hulu Plus subscriber or love to play Angry Birds, this is probably worth the upgrade.

Thanks for the heads up, bit on the Roku 3. We love our Roku 2 XS and have been looking to put a Roku in our upstairs bedroom.

Roku + Hulu Plus + Plex made cutting cable so easy

Wrong, the CPU is faster in the 3 vs the 2XS model. The headphone jack in the remote is a cool novelty feature.
It now supports gigabit ethernet, and dual band N wifi.

Is it a huge upgrade over the 2XS? Probably not, but if you don't have one or are using and old roku 1st gen then it's probably a good deal.

Can anybody shed light on if Roku XS or Roku 3 will have issues playing MKVs? My video library is mainly MKVs and I currently use a WD media player plus and I only have issues with certain types of WMV's. I heard someone say Roku has issues with MKV's so I want to make sure I knew about this before pulling the trigger. Thanks!
