FREE Gogo in-flight internet access - unknown expiration

I can't find anywhere to enter a promotion code on the gogo website to "pre-purchase" before my flight, so I'm assuming the code can only be redeemed while actually connected to gogo during the flight?

FYI This might be common sense, but this doesn't work on AA flights to Hawaii from the mainland.. lets just say when I booked my flight, it was an add-on option, stating "Wifi is available on this flight!". I paid the $12 so I could check some work emails and go on SlickDeals (of course), but the minute I boarded, they said that since we were over the ocean wifi was unavailable on that flight. It was fairly easy to get my refund after that.

I predict someone gets fired at Sharefile.

You would put the promo code when you try connecting to gogo from >10,000 ft. I haven't tried using the promo code for advance purchase.
