only thing i can say is, some craftsman tools albeit made in china are still of higher quality than the same tool from HF that's made in china.

I've had to use a tap/die set several times repairing my cars, so yes it's very useful... the day you strip a few threads and need to re-chase them. however, i wouldn't necessarily spend the money on this set.... get the IRWIN/Hansen taps/dies... much higher quality and come

I have a set of metric/standard tap/die set from HF so that's why I was wondering. Bought them a while ago, probably on a whim because they were cheap but haven't actually had to use them yet.

I'd agree that they aren't useful day to day but when you need to fix threads they are pretty much your only option.

That's a rethreader kit. It's used to restore damaged threads, but not cut new ones like a tap and die set. Still an awesome kit to have (I have that one).
