Not sure about its write speed. The other Sony 32GB SDHC card claiming to do 22mbps barely hits 10mbps writing according to some reviewers. I have a T4i which uses a VBR codec on video, and could go up to 12-13mbps from time to time, so I need a card that can do at least 15mbps write.

![]() For this Sony 40MB/s: In a USB 2.0 card reader/port, you'd get around 18-20MB/s. In a USB 3.0 card reader/port, you'd get around 20-22MB/s. Note that the normal Sony 22MB/s (the cheapest one in other deals) gets around 9.5-10.5MB/s write. This is a good card for DSLRs, because most DSLRs that use SD cards (save for the high end models like D800) have a write buffer speed of around 20-22MB/s from camera write to card (Compact Flash is a different story)... Even the new 5D Mark 3 has that limitation. That's because very few DSLR's don't implement the UHS-I bus required for high speed writing. For all intents and purposes, this card (Sony 40MB/s) and the SanDisk Extreme 45MB/s and Sony 94MB/s will perform identically in a camera body like the 5D Mark 3, because even though the SanDisk 45MB/s and Sony 94MB/s both have an actual write speed of 45MB/s, they'll only do 20-22MB/s in those DSLR's anyway. |
