From what I understand, the machine is now giving the OP a bunch of BSOD's and maybe won't even boot anymore.
That laptop is desperate for some tweaking and maybe a few fixes (virus, malware, corruption, etc). If someone doesn't get into it in safe mode pretty soon, everything will be lost. Maybe the OP has opted to return the laptop and buy a more powerful one, as mentioned in the first post, but even if it's more powerful, it will still need to be properly tweaked, if it's expected to run well with dozens of internet browser tabs open, all at the same time. |

"Updates: System BIOS Update keeps failing ... Unable to connect to server. Check the network for problems. The other updates ran just fine, but this one will not. I typically check weekly/bi-monthly for system updates. Antivirus usually on a daily basis." What is that?? Assuming you are using system software to perform "Samsung" only updates, what is updating? What is the available BIOS update? Are you also doing Windows Updates? |

I've worked IT desktop for years. The #1 common cause for slowdowns was bloatware.
at least try this 1. run > msconfig > disable services. google for more info 2. memory is so cheap these days, grab 8gb of ddr3 just for the chance it'll help. it's worth it. here's deal for 16gb since I don't see an 8gb deal. you can sell the other 8gb on ebay if u wish http://slickdeals.net/f/5897806-G...top-memory 3. use a relatively lightweight antivirus like avg free. Make sure to only install AV files component (only one), not all that extra crap like net protection, etc. Often hte AV that comes on these computers are horrible like Norton. Thanks everyone for the great help and advise! I've learned a lot. I can always count on my fellow SDrs
Rocky, thanks for the help in tweaking this machine and getting it running smooth again. Currently, it only slows down during peak user times. And, I do still get an error surfing SD because the "script is too long." I just "x" out of it and it solves the problem. ~*~*~*~*~ Thanks again!!! ~*~*~*~*~*~ |
