Been waiting on this workbench and finally found a good sale:

Gladiator 6' Adjustable Height Workbench [sears.com]

Use coupon code SEARS35OFF300AFFILIATEDEALS for an additional $35 off bringing the price to $340. Free shipping to store.

Next lowest price I found is $444 on amazon.

Additionally, there is the 8' version for $378 [sears.com].

I like Gladiator stuff a lot, most of my garage has Gladiator in it. I just can't justify spending this much on a nice table, even on sale.

I don't have the adjustable one, just the fixed 6' one, and it's a very nice table. I picked it up as part of a set, however, and I'm sure the cost was no where near what this one is, probably half.

I do really like it though. Love the bamboo top. I've considered having the local metal shop make me a stainless top for it.

Not a bad price, with the 25% of $99+ gladiator purchase this week. they occasionally go 30% like last week, which makes it $350 before any coupons.

If you're considering buying this, you might want to wait until 8pm CST tomorrow for their friends & family for another 10% off. or instore after 6pm Sunday.

Also, if you're up for a hunt, try to find the fixed leg version on closeout either in your local stores or via searsoutlet.com. I scored a pair of brand spankin new 6' maple-top versions for $90/ea about 4 weeks ago via this method.

I think those bamboo ones were like $179 at Sam's for a while when they came out. The new bamboo ones have the same base as the maple ones and actually are more than the maple ones in 4,6,8ft lengths.

What are the advantages of the bamboo top vs. the maple?

The gladiator site mentions the bamboo top is 1.5" thick and "nature's strongest and most renewable resource". Doesn't mention anything about maple. Both state they are UV coating. Since the bamboo is about $40 more, I'm guessing it is "better".

Is there a cosmetic difference?
Is there a functional difference?

Any opinions on the modular vs. nonmodular workbenches?

Take a 6' bamboo workbench:
modular: http://www.sears.com/gladiator-73...ockType=G8
Price: Currently 249.99 (and appears to currently be out of stock @ Sears) GladiatorGarageworks has it for 349.99. No longer appears available @ Sams Club.
This has a 10 year frame warranty

Non-modular: http://www.sears.com/gladiator-6%...ockType=G4
Price: Currently 404.99 (before any coupons)
Has adjustable legs
Lifetime frame warranty

I'm guessing the modular is more lightweight and won't hold as much weight. Possibly more prone to wobbling. For those of you that have the modular ... any regrets? Seems like a good way to save some $, if you can find it in the low $200s.

That $250 one was the old one. I din't know if it is available anymore. It wasn't the "Premier" or whatever the welded cabinet class was. The new ones are adjustable height and have larger legs.

As far as bamboo vs maple? Totally preference in my opinion. The bamboo looks cool but I actually prefer maple and they are cheaper. The friends and family deal stacks with the 35 off 300 code plus they are 25% off. This is the best deal I have seen since November and not by more than a few dollars.

I have the non adjustable version of this and I love it.
Paid $250 for it on sale w/ coupon and never seen it anywhere close, looks like its been replaced by this adjustable leg version.

the wood on the top is a little soft so make sure to keep it protected. Ill probably put a few coats of waterlox on it when the weather gets a little warmer
