[Amazon] Assassin's Creed 3 40% ($35.99) off PS3/Xbox, 47% off PC ($26.49)

Never played Assassin's Creed. Heard it's not good to kill innocent civilians like GTA but maybe I'll give it a shot.

Should people start at 1 and work their way up or it'll be okay to jump straight to 3?

I would probably say it doesn't really matter unless you are going for the story. I jumped in at Assassin's Creed II, then went to Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and finally stopped at Assassin's Creed Revelations (didn't even finish this one).

Even tho Revelations came with the first part, I haven't tried it. Don't think you would miss anything (again unless you go for the story).

The thing about AC is that while you might play different historical characters, there is a continuing background story with the characters from the "present". If you don't care about story, then just start at III.

And killing innocent civilians isn't a big deal, because your assassin can take on like 15 guards at once and still escape. It's not like GTA where you get hunted by the FBI, but there are still penalties for senseless killing.

AC = boring
I loved AC2 and Brotherhood. AWESOME games!
AC Revelations story was weak
AC3, havent played it yet but heard story was weak and character was uninteresting
AC4, tailer shows the series pointing on a new direction and i dont think i'll like it. A pirate doesn't seem appealing to me.

Has anyone heard if they will release an Assassins Creed 3 "Game of the Year" Edition? I ask because they are starting to slowly unload the "Tyranny of George Washington" episodes online, but at a high price point. I would totally go for a AC3 Game of the Year that included the download codes for those episodes at a price point of say $40.

As far as I know they haven't released any Game of the Year for the previous games, so it might be the same for Assassin's Creed III.

Yep me too! Activated no problem and downloaded the massive 15GB install. If you want the PC version this is a no brainer since people are trying to dump their free codes.

Any one know the gameplay average hours on this? 20 hours?

Seems like each game is getting shorter and shorter, with longer and longer movie cut scenes instead. (like the closed path world of final fantasy series.)
