You guys are so petty hoping that people who wear Vibrams trip or have nothing better to do than troll and bash people for their choices. I wonder how many of the bashers who quote half *** studies would all of a sudden become sheep if some famous actor started strolling around in them. And this is not trendy, plenty of people ran "barefoot" before Vibrams and will continue to do so even if they stopped making them due to the success of the other minimalist shoes. Bikilia x2 seeyas kmd sport ls nike free new balance minimus With some Seeya LS and Spyridon on the wish list! I know I will continue to incorporate "barefoot" running into my cardio training long after this so called trend is over. I honestly can not recall how they are in the rain, just so use to running in them. Much lighter than a sneaker that is soaked through and through and less slosh. I did not care much for the Nike frees for running, I got the first gen when they first came out but I did wear them out and about and to work out in. Did you try any of the other generation frees? Does running not increase muscle strength in and of itself? I think there is plenty of scientific proof that shows that running in barefoot shoes can and does in fact increase muscle strength. Does it do as some barefoot advocates claim and increase other muscles that have become weak due to our reliance on gigantic foam or air bubbles or springs in the soles of our current shoes or due to the different style of running? Who knows! I do know that it has helped me and many other runners and that in itself is a good thing! Heck, even if its the Placebo effect I will take it( I do not believe it is)! read the actual nature article where it states that heel striking suddenly increases force on the foot and thereby the entire body, whereas impact time with a fore or midfoot strike increases, thereby distributing the force gradually. ill go ahead and take the lab's controlled research over yours, "or lack thereof" |

Btw to other peeps... I don't run in my KSOs but I do use them to work out in (and some treadmill work) and just like how free they feel. |

Not sure why you quoted me when I agreed with you. Like I said at first running in Nike Free's to mimic barefoot running I would get some shin splints but it didn't take too many days to overcome that and make my calves and ankles stronger. I also was running 4 miles in them every time. After running in minimalist shoes mimicking barefoot running I wouldn't go back to the bigger normal running shoes. Like FREE pc games? Well the proof is in the pudding. I have plantar fasciitis and most likely bone spurs in my heels. In regular shoes, you have to heel strike and that aggravates the bone spurs. In the Vibrams, they're SO comfortable, I literally have minimal heel pain at the end of the day (walking on concrete at that, NYC), opposed to pain after 10 minutes of walking in *new* running shoes WITH orthotic inserts.
Plus on Amazon you can see many people being relieved of their knee, foot, back pain after a short time with them. In regards to the study, you essentially have to re-learn how to run again (shorter strides vs longer strides with shoes). The running mechanics are different. The Vibram company itself tells you to keep it slow for the first month+ of having the shoes. It simply isn't a matter of "I run every day and now I change these shoes and I will be the same" |

I question the authenticity of 6pm's VFFs. I purchased a pair from them, thought they were too small, so went to a fit2run store and purchased a size larger.
When I compared the two, boxing print was different font sized, stitching on the shoe was different inside, logo embroidery was thicker on one, and the brochure tag attached to the shoes was of different material and color. I emailed 6pm and they assured it was authentic, but VFF's site says they don't sell to store without a physical store front. I emailed Vibram to see about 6pm, but haven't gotten a response yet. Just found it odd.. |

I love my vibrams, glad I discovered them. I have ran one 5k in them and had a blast. I've became a workout nut in the chase to drop weight and these are great except for the occasional stubbing of littletoe when I don't pay attention against equipment. |

I initially was concerned also if 6PM.com was an authorized retailer since the Vibram site states that authorized retailers must have a physical store. So I also emailed Vibram and they eventually confirmed that 6PM.com is an authorized retailer. Interesting that you found discrepancies in the stitching and brochure tags. Wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience. Course it if possible that there are different factories producing the same models in China. But one would think that VFF would have better quality control to insure that there is some consistency in their presentation. As an experiment I did order a pair of KSO's from a site which was reputed to sell counterfeit VFF. While it was somewhat easy to spot the difference (such as a reverse "R" on the sole for the registered trademark sign) there was not a significant difference in the fit or appearance in the counterfeits. Please note that I am not a runner, so can't vouch for the durability of the counterfeits. But the price was much cheaper. |
