Just a heads up. I had these on my deck and they don't last long. The light is very dim and only stays on a few hours. They project no light more then a few inches when they first turn on, they start dimming fast after about a half hour. The clear plastic above the solar panel yellowed and cracked within a few months. All the lights were junk within six months. Spend a bit extra and get a higher end light.

technically, if you had 4 by 4s along your fence they would go on top of those too but how far down the light may actually come is the question |

I have had two of these lights for almost two years now. The light output is more for ambiance. They are more of a marking light. They are not bright enough to light up the area under the post they are attached to. The batteries are just basic Nicads and I have had to replace both sets. The tops also have a tendancy to come loose from the base when bumped. For $4 not bad, just don't expect much lumination.

Different iterations of these solar post caps are regularly available for about $10 if you don't want/need this exact model. And, usually, the best prices are not HD or Lowe's... check ebay, Amazon, etc.
. All other candidates will be like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Anyone know if these work as vinyl fence post caps? Can you just glue them on like the normal type?

They dont last long, the light is too dim. Only work for vanity, if you are serious about lighting consider the transformer based ones that plug into 120v socket

These are better used as "markers" than for light. Good find and repped.
Preppers are schleppers.
