Major annoyance in IE. Help!
I've switched to IE after noticing a significant delay in loading any webpage in FF, whereas pages will load instantaneously in IE and Mac OS browser. That, and flash tends to crash less in IE. I'm getting used to it, but the autocomplete for the address bar is being a huge pain in the ass. Firefox -To google search, just type entry in address bar, and press enter. -To visit previously visited page, type partial address or page title, press right cursor to autocomplete address, and press enter. IE -To visit previously visited page, type partial address or page title, press enter. -To google search, type entry in address bar, click on address bar field, and click google. Alternatively, you may press space to 'break' the autosuggestion, then press enter. However, if a space happens to coincide with what's stored in the autocorrect history, it'll autocomplete rather than do a google search. Part of the annoyance here is having to press extra buttons on the keyboard/mouse, part of it is IE (wrongly) assuming it knows what I intend to do and ends up taking me somewhere else, requiring even more actions. It may seem minor, but I browse at a very quick pace and often research multiple subjects at a time. For example, if I've visited a Samsung 840 page from SD and want to research the product further, I would ctrl+t, type in Samsung 840, press enter and ideally arrive at a google search. The way IE works, it takes me back to the SD page, which happens to already be open in the tab I was just at. I can turn off autocomplete for address bar in IE, but that makes it an even greater inconvenience trying to visit previous pages. It's very simple what I want. Type in a phrase, press enter, and get a google search. Type in part of a previously visited website, press right cursor to let the browser know I want it to autocomplete, then press enter and be taken to where I want to go. Basically, what FF does, but in IE. |
