it seems more than rumor...and you can buy what you choose and make up on your own mind on prospects of future support for it Its doubtful you can find an ST50....if these product exit stories are accurate you might be able to get a firesale deal on an ST60 in the comings months not sure how long you have been around the whole AV thing...but do you remember how cheap you could get a Pioneer Kuro after Pioneer exited the business? the fact that Panasonic already shut down a facility and reorganized/down sized their labor force is a fact the other fact is their financial results were very weak when they were released recently neither of those is rumor.....there are actual dates and occurrences The same thing happened with Pioneer a few years ago And since you are wide believer in the "speak" on AVS forum..this seem to be the wild fire topic right now IF AVS can be used as a source... .... they could be exiting the business altogether in 2014..and you should get out and experience more cars...you will see the difference in detail in expert engineering...lol Last edited by turnne; 03-23-2013 at 06:18 AM.. |

well he better act quick with those financials Pansonic will be doing something..thats for sure Public companies dont do that poorly financially for long without making some bold moves ..and since their own revenue is way off on Plasma TV's..it seems that that business is prime for exiting perhaps Samsung and LG will be the only players left in the plasma market They both have much better financial results...thats for sure |

not that the car analogy has anything to do with TV's but getting back to reality...how long do you think Pansonic will provide warranty support when they exit the business next year?... ![]() at the end of the day the companies that actually have the financials to support R&D will be the ones rolling new products out the door Those with dismal financial will be reorganizing and shedding those businesses/operations that are not profitable being that Pansonic has no LED business and I will speculate here if I were a betting man I would bet Samsung and LG make a huge amount more money on their LED business vs their plasma business...and since LED probably sell 15-20x more volume than plasma..the current situation with Panasonic stand to reason since they dont really have position( of much relevance) in the LCD/LED marketplace and no OLED on the table either...?? behind the curve in technology is not good for someone in the flat panel business Last edited by turnne; 03-23-2013 at 07:15 AM.. |

" In its consolidated settlement of accounts for the year ending on March 31, Panasonic is likely to suffer a deficit of more than 700 billion yen (about $7.4 billion US) in its after-tax profits for the second year in a row." uh oh.....thats not good "The company is trying to raise profitability by increasing the procurement rate of LCD panels from outside makers. " where do yo think they will get those panels from?...a Korean maker....?..oh no!!... ![]() the entire article http://www.thespec.com/news/busin...-plasma-tv I am really surprised you havent been all over these recent developments...the way you use AVS forum as gospel The financials are like wildfire in the threads right now in both the Panasonic and Samsung threads I read( and post to) Last edited by turnne; 03-23-2013 at 07:45 AM.. |

so you bought a ST60 and now you are buying a VT60 loading up before Panasonic pulls the plug on TV manufacturing? You have NO IDEA what any of the manufacturers models will have superiority And to another point ...that much of that is subjectivity anyway hence my love for German cars over the Japanese...and yes I owned both I traded an Acura for a Benz( at about the same price point) and its a night and day difference to me so clearly you have between under a rock But all subjectivity and preference aside Its has everthing to do with their financial situation in the flat panel business...which is very weak and very real So..unless you have that "next great thing" they can do to actually turn a profit....your subjectivity and speculation about their products is a moot point Have you been under a rock? You do know that Panasonic is not a "not for profit" company..right? and as I said before I have both Samsung and Panasonic plasma in my home You have clearly been drinking some coolade....some that Panasonic is clearly not "selling at a profit" |
