bottom line of the test "The winner? The Samsung PNE6500, with virtually no image retention at all. Meanwhile both Panasonics were looking much worse for wear." and you are simply speculating on some words you read on the internet on products you have no experience with Do you believe EVERYTHING you read on the internet? I speak from someone who actually owns the sets I am talking about what sets do you own? Last edited by turnne; 03-13-2013 at 06:30 PM.. |

I bought the 55" ST50 against my wife's wishes in fact she was pretty angry I didn't buy the cheapo Fry's 55" TDL for like $400 and was even more furious I did the 100 hour burn in process in our master bedroom, lol... but the first day she was able to watch The Walking Dead on this badboy she apologized and said it was 100% worth the money. My wife is the least tech oriented person and for her to actually continually verbalize how awesome the picture is and then talk trash on our friends PQ is huge. Seriously, anyone who hasn't sat down in front of a properly calibrated ST50 is just spewing trash.

The wife laughed at me too for the slides. I didn't even make it to 100 hrs. I think 80 hrs most likely and then I started to use it. Excellent picture quality.

bingo. this is exactly what happened with my 60" tcp-gt50!!!! my cheap 60" ut-50 never had the same burnin issues. neither did my samsung or lg plasmas. ps lg plasma tv's are excellent! not junk as someone postulated. their color balance is great right out of the box. ps. calibration is overated best buy did mine and it was really dark never ended up using it. the only thing that pisses me off about the tv is the built in viera software does not allow you to HFILL the picture so if I play videos on netflix through the TV software I do notice the slight black bars, but I've been able to get around that by using an xbox 360 and use netflix and amazon prime and that will allow you to HFILL the screen. Kind of sucks I have to use the xbox 360 vs just use the native software on the TV but the 360 solution is good for now until they upgrade the software (hopefully). Also, the room gets kind of hot so I have to use a vortex fan to kind of suck air out of the room in addition to running the A/C. |

in regard to LED......they are similarly priced and while they both have dismal reviews for the most part...the LG sets...the 7600 and 8600 specifically...have better reviews than any of the Panasonic LED's |

But...if you are looking at the ST or the GT....you really need to look at the Samsung E7000 and E8000 as overall they are about the same I own the ST50 as well as well the E8000 The Samsung E8000 is a better set than the ST50 If my ST was a VT I would say the opposite vs the Samsung E8000 |

You are correct and your TV is the same panel as the GT50 minus the THX and HDMI port. Good purchase... I plan on upgrading my 60" ST30 to a VT60 I have owned a PX60U , V10, GT25, now my ST30 which i bought for 1075.00 JAN 2011.. would of jumped into a ST50 but the prices did not drop low enough , i was looking at 1100-1200 for the 60" out the door after taxes, Panasonic made too many TVs in 2011 probably why i was able to get my slickdeal. I did the burn in too with the slides and AVS settings... i laugh at LEDs |
