I remember this laptop-- was a slickdeal not too long ago for $450 IIRC. Anyway can this A6 still be overclocked? I read from other threads before that the newer AMD procs weren't OCable (this was a while ago). I'm not sure if it applies to the newer A6s, A8s and/or A10s. If this particular A6 is OCable like that ASUS gaming rig a year or so back, this may indeed be worth buying.

Looks like this proc may not be overclockable using K10stat since this is the newer "Trinity" chip and not the "Llano" chip-- here [tomshardware.com] and here [extremeoverclocking.com]

Ok, so I never buy the store protection on purchases, but Staples is offering 2-year protection for $100. If you don't use the service at the end of the two years they will give you $100 Staple gift card. Thoughts?

I didn't get charged tax... went all the way through, and receipt shows final price of $324.99. I assumed that I'd get tagged for another $25 - $30 on this. Very nice!!

You shouldn't have any problems with new laptops--especially within 2 years--assuming you don't abuse them hence I feel it is unecessary. And in 2-3 years, you'll probably be selling or trading this in for a new one from SD. But if you buy a display model I may consider it, or if you think you'll buy a lot of stuff from Staples after 2 years, then the warranty will be useful since you can use that $100 GC for something else useful.

It's out of stock on staples. I would pick HP over Toshiba any day, trust their customer support and performance.

Oh super-shady. On my printable receipt at the end it didn't show the tax, and then in the email that I got after the order was processed it showed the extra $20 tax. Still, $295 for a new lappy for the wife is great...

I've never used Toshiba support, but I like many other SD members have had nightmare stories with HP customer support.

They are known as having some of the absolutely worst support ever. It took me not even kidding 15+ hours of phone calls to get them to fix my laptop that was under warranty. Trying to explain anything to someone overseas who barely speaks English and sole job is to screw you over and talk to you until you can not spend anymore time on the phone is a crappy company. I had my laptop for less than 12 months actually got it on an SD deal only to have the mother board burn out and they were not going to fix it. Then only to find out that BestBuy was selling them as new and in reality they were refurbs. Complete headache.. after sending back and forth for 3 months with them finally got it fixed. Literally like trying to talk to a brick wall with no common sense.

This maybe a decent deal for the price, but I would NEVER want to deal with anything HP related ever again.

Just because you got screwed by best buy and sold you a refub as new does not mean this is a bad latop. You should have been on best buys but about it.

In 4 one. Almost sprang for the Deal a Day on Asus Ultrabook for 299 yesterday but refurb, warrantee and online reviews spooked me. Never did figure out whether this W8 was 64 bit but as long as I can increase to 8mb I guess it doesn't really matter. Bought with Amex so standard one year warrantee gets doubled. Got a Pavilion dv7 to replace my desktop about a year ago from Woot and I'm thrilled with it.
