I don't know about the bluray drive. I did eventually find most of the drivers at HP, and the rest at RealTek for the card reader and I think the network drivers.

But there are numerous problems with BR drives in laptops. Some people have no problems, others do. RMA if it's still under warranty.
Issue with RMA is putting the Blu-ray drive on the original HP laptop works properly. I know HP doesn't support you moving the Blu-ray drive to another HP laptop. All the experience tells me is there are more "secrets" hidden In BD drive on the PC as we know Hollywood has gone super paranoid with protecting Blu-ray security after DVD security was a joke.

Telling you the truth, I was ready to drop my DVD movie discs as I watch Blu-ray movies on my home setup but with the pain of Blu-ray drive on the laptop, it's still safer to keep the DVD movie discs bundled with the movie around just for that reason. Also, playing Blu-ray movies on laptop also eats up the battery power much quicker.

As for drivers for Windows 7, if you can't find certain driver on your HP G6, ask me because I may have the drivers.

Don't have Slysoft AnyDVD but thanks for your suggestion.

I still find it odd when two different DVD players, ie. PowerDVD 12 and Total Media Theater 5 started to have problem playing any Blu-ray movie when they worked for a short time on the other "non-OEM" laptop.

Did you guys not liking Win 8 try something like http://www.classicshell.net/ first? I downloaded it for the heck of it and am liking it.

I tried a few different "Start" shell for Win8 and I like this one the best. You can even set Start to emulate any of the previous Windows version. It's also very stable and free.

With the Start, you can set Windows 8 to directly boot into the old style desktop.

Did anyone get their easy rebate for this yet? Mine still shows as pending, it's been well over 10 weeks now.
