I have an Epson Workforce 610 All-in-one, but if one of the colors is empty, it will not print at all. In order to get that one color to print (it still does not work), I spent probably $200 on ink just to run the maintenance procedures over and over again. I got fed up and found this Brother reviewed on many couponing websites as well as pcmag.com's editor's choice. I use the Epson for scanning, faxing, etc. It prints when it wants to, but it's streaky and the store clerk wouldn't accept the coupons because it was so faint in some areas. I never did get a non-OEM to work, it would never accept the chip.

This Brother has a 250 sheet capacity. It'll take standard TN-420, and high yield TN-450 toner cartridges. Perhaps it was shipped with the 420, it lasted 3 500-sheet reams of paper before the light went on. Then it continued to print another month, I took it out, shook it gently, popped it back in and it printed again for another two weeks.

I thought the replacement toner I bought was a non-OEM, but it's not, it's a OEM TN-420 from newegg shipped to me for $29.49. Still, that's not a bad price for OEM. I've read on other forums that Meritline has one (Merax) non-OEM TN-450/high capacity that people have had success with; it's $21. Some are also refilling their cartridges. Too messy for me.

I was spending $200+/yr on OEM Epson ink, I'm expecting to pay $30/yr for this Brother.
It is not wireless, but I plugged it into my main desktop and my other laptops can share the printer tht way.

My advice: wait for a deal on the one that does duplex printing.

Great printer for the price. There is always another so-called better deal out there, but if you are looking for a solid, dependable B/W laser printer, this is one. TU.

Works great and little maintenance. Shouldn't have no second thoughts on this

Thanks OP, just as my MX420 ran out of ink today and I needed to print a bunch of documents. I bought one of these printers a few years back for my in-laws, great little machine.

Even though it has no wireless networking, I can still connect it to one of my computers and use the wifi network so other computers in my home can print from it, right?
