Yes that's possible, it will take some time and patience unless you've already got everything set up to talk to each other and have File and Printer sharing turned on on each unit with the proper credentials on each one, ideally having the same OS on each computer will spare some time.
The biggest drawback is that the PC that its hard wired to must be powered on and on the network which when I had a similar setup had me just email the document/coupon to myself and print it from the one it's connected to if I have to get up and walk to its location and power it on anyway, but if its your main desktop unit it can be much better than nothing.
You'll install it on the host PC, be sure that File and Printer sharing is enabled on it and that the settings jive with each PC. Then go into the "devices and printers" or just printers folder depending on which Version of Windows you use and right click the printer and click printer properties.
This will open up a properties window with multiple tabs across the top to choose from, select "Sharing" and check the "share this printer" box and if you like you can edit the name that the printer will show up as on the network. Also check the box that asks if you want to process the print Job on the client computers and that stops it from sucking the Host computers resources dry , there's just no need for that as it can ruin anyone who happens to be on the host pc's experience. Click ok

As long as you have Windows 7 on each computer and they are all in the same workgroup or home group and the host PC and printer are powered on you can now print to the shared printer. If you have windows XP or OS X when you search for and find the networked printer you have one extra step left which is to download and install the printer driver for that OS and you're set.

Hey some people in reviews complain about fan noise. I wanted to know can you just print and unplug when you are done or do you always have to keep it plugged in and on for any particular reason?

Weird. Never once had any store / CSR make an issue about a B&W coupon. They might not want a home printed coupon at all and might be fooled by an ink-jet color print, but never just because it was printed in color. (and yes, I do print/use a decent number of home printed coupons monthly.)

laser printer fans are thermally controlled. they will turn off a few minutes after you print. you can hear the fan, but its no jet engine.

looking up the price history on this one, it looks like $49 price is not that rare.
For the wireless version, you could score one for $90 from JR but again people managed to get it alot cheaper using the $25 off $75 staple coupons and PM... BTW are these coupons still available?!

Yes. Google's Cloud Print service might offer some benefits too, although I think it's mostly for wirelessly printing...

Well... Wireless is good and is a great convenience, but duplex? I understand this depends, but I NEVER needed 2 sided printing. And, after all, you can achieve the same result by running the print job twice. If you have in your network a computer which is always on - connect USB printer to this computer and share it. It will be as good as wireless printer.

Nevertheless I wouldn't recommend buying it right now unless you badly need a laser printer today. A few month ago I saw in local OD the wireless duplex for about the same 60 bucks.

BTW, Brothers cartridges are among the cheapest.

I have this exact printer which I purchased about a year ago. Very fast and sturdy little Brother! Some stated that you can buy one with wireless for this price, but this is a very capable laser printer.
