usually its not that the newer SSD are less reliable, its just their reliability hasn't been fully tested and confirm. Most people rather stick with the older tested models.
Why is it that they stop making certain SSDs like the Blue 5k Kingston or the Samsung 830 or the M4?
If they are fast, reliable and solid why do they discontinue?
Just embellishing that answer - also, because SSDs are still not quite mature tech, people are more wary of them than buying a new model video card, for example. There have been some spectacular SSD problems that were not rooted out until that model was on the market for a year. Look at Vertex 3, with an astonishing ~3% failure rate in the first year. After .15 firmware was released they were nice and stable. Before that they would brick themselves randomly.
