Hmm...in my opinion, this is a strange combination. A low end Sandy Bridge dual core processor in a 8GB RAM/1TB HD combination and with 6 USB 3.0 ports? The amount of RAM/HD/ports suggests a higher performance seeking system, while the processor...... This is stranger than those chassis with i7-3770 CPU and only 4GB RAM/500GB HD. The one Newegg put on sale a while ago for $200 and didn't honor. :-)

It's almost impossible to find a brand-new Intel-based desktop from a major retailer/manufacturer with warranty at this price, so no sense to complain a drive that is too big. You can probably wait for an AMD E-series PC with a smaller drive to go on sale for less, but that would be a waste of $200+ to save $25.

A 1TB hard drive is a definite plus. PC performance suffers once the hard drive starts filling up beyond the 50% mark. Lots of people accumulate media now, including music, personal pictures and videos of their kids. A system like this works well for the older generation, non-power users in your family. Those users are not frequent updaters. This can help them get the best use out of this PC for an extra couple of years.

No, I was not complaining that the HD was too big. I just thought it was a strange combination of low end CPU, but with higher end RAM/HD/USB3.0 ports (I didn't know the RAM amount posted was wrong at first). By the way, it was not just the RAM amount that was wrong in your OP post, you may want to check it again.
I agree that this is a good price for a new pc. By the way, I wonder if people can stack that $75 coupon with other Staples coupons (like $25 off $75).

Anybody own the Desktop & can comment on preformance?

On the HP spec site.. shows 3.0 Usb for the front ports & 2.0 USB for the 4 on the back. Not a deal breaker..Just sayin..

Might be worth finding out what all processors of the Sandy Bridge variety this motherboard can support and see if it can be upgraded over time.

I got the specs from the Staples description. I don't have the PC to verify. Discrepancies are common. That's why I provided a link to the official HP specs in the OP.
