Bottom line, used $5 valpak coupon, members 20%, had to buy the 8' extension kit for another $50. Picked up opener at local store tonight and had the extension kit delivered. Well, I did this all at midnight last night and the extension kit was delivered this afternoon! By some sort of courier I was not home :-)
Total cost was $275 (including tax) so with $51 in reward bucks thats roughly $225 all in. I'm assuming I bought the right extension kit as it was a listed accessory Craftsman 8' Rail Extension Kit Sold by Sears Item #00953728000 Mfr. Model #53728 Get in while still valid. This will replace a current Chamberlain circa the 90's that sounds like a truck running through the house when opening/closing :-) Edit: Also 6 miles/$ spent on AAdvantage eshopping site for Sears.com purchases right now! https://www.aadvantageeshopping.com/ so roughly 1600 miles too boot Last edited by charlesmith; 03-11-2013 at 08:15 PM.. |

Great idea -- I didn't see anything on the checkout page indicating the RR points, do you have to actually go through the rapid rewards shopping portal for them to apply the 6pts / dollar credit? ***Reading through the Rapid Rewards FAQs it appears you have to go through their portal. I cancelled an order and replaced it with a new order for the 6:1 points. Last edited by MasGaster; 03-12-2013 at 06:21 AM.. |

Quite opener but faulty controller.
I have 2 of these Garage door openers installed in late 2010. One of the controller lights never worked but I didn't bother as the other was always working fine with motion sensor. Lately I am having issues where the remote range has dropped significantly. I have to be just outside the garage to open or close the door and sometimes even that don't work till I open the window and poke the remote out. Initially I thought the battery is dying on remote but the behavior is same even with Homelink Garage opener in my wife's Sienna. Pretty much both car remotes and 2 door pads with the security codes are not working properly and even the Van based door opener cannot open the door unless the van is very close to the door. Can anyone help and suggest why this would happen and should changing the battery in the remotes help out? Also the battery died after a year or so but I knew about it before I bought it based on reviews from others on this site. So if you are buying for battery backup feature be ready to replace the battery every 12-18 months. Last edited by HN308; 03-12-2013 at 08:19 AM.. |

Wow, I guess I got extremely lucky to pick up a Chamberlain Whisper Quiet Belt Drive Garage Door Opener for $35 bucks brand new last year at Home Depot. It was on clearance. HD900D.
I know..I know...if I don't have pictures it didn't happen. There were only two at my store and only two happy folks in Lake Charles, LA. |

2. If power is indeed out, and you do indeed pull the cord and lift the door, drive your car out, how do you plan on closing the door and locking it from inside? drive car out, get out of the car, get inside the garage, pull down the door, engage the cord, go around the living room and main entrance, lock the main entrance, get in the car and finally get to where you want to go? I know all of this probably would take 2 minutes. I'd rather not freeze my azz when power is out and it's snowing out (probably the reason power is out). How convenient if we had the battery backup ![]() I may be wrong in all this, but technology advancements do have their advantages at times. |

Also great for garages with no entry door; there's no way to get in when the power is out.
