Got this one during the 20% sale a little while ago. It's now my favorite zoom lens. It blew me away at a dance production with a dark stage and a 1.4 extender [facebook.com]. While taking pics of the cats in the yard today I declared that it is worth every penny. I have a lot of catching up to do to use this lens to its fullest potential.

And yup, it's beastly for handholding for an extended time and trying to fit into a camera bag. For more compact stuff w/o spending $400+ or getting an f/5.6 max ap, I've been happy with the classic 70-210mm f/4 that goes for ~$130.

Now in the process of selling the 70-200 f/2.8L non-IS version and the 70-300L IS to Adorama
Sure that is has no back/front focus? Pictures are looking slightly out of focus.

I have known people who have had this lens fall apart on them. It is a complex lens with lots of moving parts. This is one of the ones that can fail. Buyer beware.

For the price of this lens, will it at least let me see through women's clothing? I know it can't make me a sandwich, but that would be even better.

This lens has only been out for a little over a year. This is the 70-200 2.8 IS Version 2 (II) and not Version which is a 12 year old lens.

Is there really a huge difference between a 70-300mm EFS vs. this lens?

Is it really worth the money?

I would appreciate some feedback

That map indicates which states don't have a sales tax at all, i.e. if you purchase something in Oregon, you are not charged a sales tax.

Generally speaking, internet retailers only charge sales tax if they have a presence in the buyer's state and that state has a sales tax. Newegg, which is a California-based company without a presence in Texas, would not charge you a sales tax. So, whether you are charged sales tax on an internet purchase depends on 1) whether your state has a sales tax, and 2) whether the internet retailer has a presence in your state.
ok..that clears it up since texas does charge a sales tax, but since newegg doesnt have a presence, thus no tax...i wasnt aware that canon had a shop in texas, so i thought i could get away with no sales tax.

I highly doubt this. Its the most solidly built lens I have ever seen (though I have version 1) - after owning it for 9 years its been flawless. I am sure if its thrown on concrete from a roof of a building it will fall apart, but in actual use?

On a side note, has anyone ever seen the 85 mm 1.2l ii or the 135 f2l refurbed available on the Canon site? Whenever I look they are out of stock.
You are a couple of weeks late. We "SDer" probably grabbed them all form the last time they were on sale. probably within the 1st hour of salelaugh out loud

I swear I paid about $1500-1600 for this lens new a few years ago but maybe my memory is foggy.
That's probably the older version (Version I). This is the Version II which new goes for over $2k
