well, the light is quite good and interesting, but for the price, it is too high, for me, i think the normal alarm clock is better to use.

whether or not you think it's worth the price (without having tried it i might add) this is a great price. i bought one of the 3470s last time around and i love it. it is a heck of a lot nicer to be awakened by a gradual lighting of the room than abruptly by an alarm clock. granted now that daylight savings time has changed to an hour later it probably won't be pitch dark outside when i wake up. but for the winter months especially, i really like waking up with the light.

Bought the 3470 at this price last time. Been using it since January and I've always woken up to the pleasant sound of birds or the subtle light. Also used my older alarm as a backup but never needed it.

you may want to update your post to reflect Philips only having 1 "L" in their name to help for reposts and people who search.

Not sure how you got it down to $55 unless I'm missing something?

This would be really nice in Portland, OR. But too expensive for me

Amazon just increased the price. Amazon really sucks.

Deal is dead on the better (cheaper one) the newer one does not allow you to change the bulb - so when the bulb dies the whole thing is garbage.

This is a wonderful product. I have extremely low energy levels in the dark gloomy months in the PNW. I was skeptical of these wake-up lights when I first heard of them, but I finally caved in the last time this deal came around. I was shocked at how easy it was to wake up to the light (30 mins before the alarm actually goes off). I had a bad habit of waking up, and then snoozing/dozing because the "real alarm" would go off in just a few minutes.

I can confidently say, at least for me, the light by itself is actually enough to wake you up. I find myself having more energy waking up this way, my suspicion is that it's less shocking to be woken up "out of cycle" (90 minute cadence/rhythm).

I have a nice Homedics sound machine that wakes me to "birds singing in a rainforest". Soo much better than A loud abusive alarm..
