I see a 13" invailable in the oulet right now at $1009. There is also an xps 14 with the 9 on the end. $919, but it has been reported that it's harder to get. Still I believe it may be possible if you get the right csr.
someone got it. The xps 14 is still there.

Can you still return the laptop and get the giftcard money back? the gif card is not returnable, beware.

Same thing happened to me, however it's likely because the drivers are way outdated on these machines. I updated my drivers and it fixed the problems for now. Same for any wifi issues.

I've already updated everything I possibly could, from bios down... all drivers can be downloaded from dell.

To check the refurbished laptop's battery wearing, there is a tool BatteryBar free download [batterybarpro.com].

Mine shows 8% wear, but it still gives a 5 -6 hours on full charge.

So, I bit on this and it came Friday. Some observations...

- It is a really well built machine. Definitely worth the price premium over cheap plastic options
- It is not light but not super heavy either. I appreciate the better battery and bigger screen
- On my home wifi I get about 75% of the speed vs other devices on the 2.4ghz band, but it is faster than my other devices on the 5ghz band. The connection on either band has been stable with no drops. I have not had a chance to test it in competitive/marginal wifi environments to see how poorly it works there.
- The poor trackpad scrolling was my biggest complaint. Disabling DES and installing the latest Synaptics driver solved that.
- Getting Intel RST to work was difficult. I had to run diskpart and format the mSATA drive as GPT but now it boots in under 10 seconds.
- My battery wear is 4% which is acceptable to me for a refurb.

All in all, I am very happy with this machine. I don't need a touch screen for day to day stuff and the benefits of this vs the competition (bigger screen vs 13" ones, better resolution vs most, backlit keyboard vs Lenovo, better battery etc etc etc) are all wins.

Petey Nice,

Could you detail how you got IRST working? I've had no luck and am about to return the laptop:

And just now as your post came in, I was about to post this in my Dell thread:

So at the suggesting of Dell Chat, I reseated the MSATA drive even though it is screwed into the motherboard and there is not way for it to get lose. I then went to the command prompt and used the DISKPART command to CLEAN and OFFLINE the disk to reset it. Once I ran the CLEAN and OFFLINE command, the MSATA once again disappears. I would now like to return this laptop. It has been opened up by the Dell tech multiple times and by myself as well, two of the screws on the back cover are now stripped out and I've spent more time troubleshooting the laptop that actually using it. Dell technical support on the forum, over the phone, and through Chat have been very professional ,but I am disappointed in Dell and their QA process for refurbished laptops.

It seems like this was a pretty hit or miss deal, depending on what unit you got. My laptops been great so far with no noticeable WiFi issues (other than a minor drop in speed at great distances from the router) and no touchpad problems, with about 4 percent battery wear. As for the IRST I've got the power up to about 15 secs after messing with a few settings, is that about as good as it get or does it get faster? I'm not sure if I changed the right setting or not

the wifi wake up issue is persistent. I tried to uncheck the power management from wifi in device manager, either way won't fix it. It wasn't like this in the first few days though.

Just received my xps 14 today.
0.1% battery wear but showing weak wifi signal.

Here is a SpeedTest comparison of the xps 14 vs. my custom desktop using a Cisco usb wifi adapter.
