Is this or the extreme better?

There is a good review of the drive on Storagereview.com Would post a link but site won't let me, but a good read. It is the low end Sandisk. That said if it is all you've got it will serve you well.

it got a decent review on anandtech, the thing it has going for it is that is uses a consistant and stable controller from marvel, all the other deals these days are using sandforce controller which i personally do not trust.


But I tend to go for ssd is long reliable track records like crucial m4, samsung 830/840 pro, and most intel ssd.

Some ocz, kingston, corsair, sandisk models are ok, but why not go with the most reliable.

i'm running a few intel ssds and while quality may be top notch, their sandforce controller has that dreadful freezing problem that has not been addressed by intel. if given the choice again, i'd go with either samsung, crucial or this sandisk with marvell controller.

You may be confusing this Ultra Plus drive with the old Sandusk Ultra series. This model is from Sandisk's current best consumer SSD series.

I have the Ultra and Extreme models. Both perform well and as expected. This Ultra Plus is better then both supposedly. Its fast, stable, and cheap. Uses a Marvel controller. What more can you ask for?

That Kingston probably benchmarks higher, but it has a sandforce controller, which tend to be less reliable and consistent than a marvel controller. If you are not doing a lot of simultaneous read/writes you will not notice a difference. Go with the ultra plus and save the ten bucks
