Does anyone know if this will work in a laptop? I know with regular drives they have 'notebook models', but not sure if that rule applies with SSD as they're small anyway. IDK. Searching for a good SSD deal.
SSD's are 2.5" form factor, same as 'notebook model' hard drives.

For laptops you have to pay attention to the thickness of the SSD. They come in 7mm and 9mm heights. This SSD is 7mm in height and should fit most laptops. Double check your model # to make sure.

Older laptops have IDE (PATA) connections for the drives and will NOT accept a SATA SSD.

So, if your laptop is 'modern', this should work. Also, you may be able to replace your ODD/DVD drive with a SSD using a caddy, while keeping your old hard drive for storage.

Oh nice, thanks for the info! I wasn't 100% sure and didn't know about the thickness of them. Have never used one. So tempted to grab one...

95% of traditional SATA laptops use notebook hard drives that are 9.5mm in height, standard.

If you have a small/thin/light/ultrabook (5%?), then you probably require a 7mm height hard drive.

You just have to do research on your model.

And you can easily use a 7mm drive in a 9.5mm space (so technically, just get a 7mm drive to be safe)

This model is 7mm height

To throw a curveball, there is a NEW height standard, 5.5mm. I only know 1 (maybe 2) laptops that actually use that height. Enjoy!

Anyone comment on how decent of a deal is or drive pros/cons?
The price is obviously not great if you compared it to previous BF deals and stuff, but as of right now it's not too bad of a deal. As for the drive itself, I've been pretty much using it daily for the past 2-3 months without any issue. From what I've seen, this drive delivers a more consistent write speed than my Samsung 830 one.
