Dont know why I jumped on this....well...I do...because I'm CHEAP
But I always try to make SOME type of effort to buy things made in USA
Going to cancel this order, and try to find some cheap USA made cast iron.
Thanks for setting me straight.
Amazon sells a 12 inch for around 18 bucks. Its probably not ideal for smaller meals, but its a decent price. I got one on black friday for 12ish? can't remember. Took a couple of cooks after the seasoning for the nonstick to really hold. I can now put rice in there and it won't stick. My mom found it too heavy to use though. Kinda sucks cause I bought it for her, but I am happy to use it.
Just to make folks aware - The 3PC Cast Iron is 'Made in China' and there remains a serious doubt if these are free of Lead. Apparently the Chinese are using Lead as an ingredient to make the Iron mold and hold stronger and better. Buy at your own Risk.
I threw away the ones I had bought in the past. Note Iron dissolves a lot faster than Steel and Porcelain if you are going to compare this with the other variety used for cooking materials.
THe major cast iron brand is Lodge Logic, made in America.
Not too much more expensive if you don't want to cook on Chinese iron ore.
True... still... if you have never had a cast iron pan and want to get an idea, this is a cheap way to try out 3 smallish sized pans. Once you know the characteristics and are ready to commit, shop for Lodge Logic or rummage through yard sales for some Griswold or whatnot.
