But you're correct, this isn't an excessive amount of ammunition that they ordered, given a 5 year contract..

The price difference between hollow point and ball is almost nothing, when it comes to large purchases. As has already been pointed out, most large LE agencies shoot the same ammo for training and qualifications, that they use for duty.

The larger question is how much they are demanding now, in light of the current ammunition shortage. I expect ammo to be a bit lower in availability than normal (based on current demand), but it is ridiculous and has been so for months. It's kind of funny to see people that claim gun ownership is not going up, in light of this. The people saying it obviously have not been to a gun store in the last few months to see the empty shelves, both of firearms and in particular ammunition. That makes these contracts seem more suspicious, when there isn't any ammo available anywhere.

Really? I honestly don't know, but for a organization barely 10 years old to plan on using more ammo in the next 5 years (and change maybe) than the entire Iraq War, I have to think there's something a little out of wack.

Oh, we use hollow points on our enemies. We just call them "open tip" when Marines kill bad guys with them.

Don't know about you guys, but the Government sure seems like they are Prepping for something. Don't know what it is, but working as a contractor for the def dept. Flag officers are leaving to "go spend time with their families" that is a know common excuse for I don't want to tell you why I am really leaving.

I have begun prepping myself. Never owned a gun til 2013 now I own several. And secured my families land with Water RIghts we have owned for 30+ years installed a well and presurized water pump. And if worse comes to worse I have my bug out plan ready, solar panels installed. I speak fluent spanish and have my Plan B bug out ranch in Buenos Aires Argentina should the US economy go to crap.

Even followed George Sorros's advice to short the US Dollar already made money when the US Credit rating was downgraded, and it will be downgraded again in 2013. Its an easy way to invest and set your self up for a win/win scenario

And like Homeland Security I have about 1,000 Rounds of 9mm Ammo and 1,000 rounds of 5.56

I would like to know what types of Rounds they ordered these prices will double by end of year. For ammo. Seems like they are getting ready to quell civilian US Riots. Because an invasion is really not in the cards.
