The Bible: The Epic Mini Series on Blu-ray for $35 + free shipping, DVD for $30

I watched the first episode and I have to say that I do not agree with a lot of the "interpretation" depicted in this "version" of the Bible. If I had known ahead of time, I would not have let my 3 young kids watch it, mainly because of the mature themes (PG-13) and the director's interpretations. Needless to say, my family will not be watching the rest of the series.

Regardless of my disagreement with the interpretation, I think the quality and story telling aspect of the first episode was very well done.

If you pre-order it at a Walmart store you will also get the VUDU version too.

I think if you watched it from the beginning, there was a warning about sexual situation and violence. I don't think the director ruined the essence of the Bible with his discretionary interpretation. Every director is allowed to have some leeway and sometimes he has to go with what makes more sense than copying straight from the book.

It's a decent show but I wouldn't want to spend $35 for it. I don't even keep it on my DVR.

Regardless, its filled with violence, especially the Old Testament. You can choose to gloss over it, but I'm glad the History Channel didn't.

The Jericho story is a great one but in church, you don't usually learn about how Joshua and his men slaughtered everything that drew breath in that city (including women and children) except Rahab and her family. And they went on to do the same thing in every city they attacked. They wiped out 31 kings and all their people.
