Thread Details

Gearbuzz [gearbuzz.com] has the Jay bird JF3 Freedom Bluetooth Headphones for $49.95 and $10 shipping. Cheaper than I paid on the Amazon deal a little bit ago.

JayBird J3 Freedom features premium music and calls, with warm bass, tuned to eliminate listener fatigue during long workouts. These Stereo Bluetooth buds feature a lifetime warranty against sweat, six hours of music play time and a secure fit. Designed for activity, having on-ear music and call controls is significant. Controls on a cord can result in fumbling and dislodging of your earbud, a major distraction to your workout. On-ear controls offer quick, confident commands so you can focus and get the most from your workout.

Key Features

Bluetooth Wireless Music + Calls
Patented Secure Fit for Sports
Lifetime Warranty Against Sweat
Premium Audio Quality
6 hour Battery Music/Talk Play Time - Standby Time: 250 Hrs

GearBuzz Deals offers certificates that costumer individuals buy.
once you commit to purchase and you cc is authorized they bundle the certificates and put them out for an offer that distributors, large retailers etc buy from them for redemption.
for example
lets say they sell 100 pair of headphones for 65/a piece + tax (gear buzz collects $5950 + tax whatever state you're in, they collect tax in case the retailer wands up being in your state)
they turn around and offer bulk fulfillment on 100 orders to warehouse for lets say $5000 - they keep 950 (+tax if warehouse is out of your state) and don't have to ship a single package. and warehouse/retailer don't have to hassle with marketing / costumer support.
if they don't find anyone to fulfill an order within 14 days you will never get charged for the item and there is no sale. (in this case they got someone with overstock that committed upfront to some quantity - when i questioned where is the warehouse to make sure the tax charge is legit - they started with above explanation and then escalate the case to see if i could get refund on tax charge)
then i asked if the order ships from jaybird - and sales clerk said not this batch, but some could if jaybird decides to fulfill some of the orders - but there was no commitment from jaybird as of yesterday night.
so i canceled the order since they could not assure me that whoever I'm getting the headphones from are authorized distributors (for warranty) .
On the website it says:

If they ship directly from the manufacturer, I don't see how the warranty wouldn't be valid.

Thanks OP. Nice find.

I will say this: the difference between apt-x compliant headphones and non-apt-x headphones (like these, I believe) is ENORMOUS. The Galaxy S3 and a few other high-end phones support apt-x, and if you have it it's worth every penny.

Again, seems like a good price, but the leap in audio quality is pretty enormous. Old bluetooth sounds muddy and compressed. Apt-x, to my ear, sounds as good as a proper cable connection.
any examples of apt-x headphones for around this price point?

There must have been some miscommunication then. I just contacted Gearbuzz costumer service and asked specifically about this deal. They confirmed that the merchant is Jaybird and that the product will be shipped directly from Jaybird, like the website says.

Also, on my purchase history page on Gearbuzz, this is listed next to my order:

You will receive a confirmation email, and the merchant will ship your order directly to you.
Seeing as how the rep also confirmed that the product is shipped directly from the merchant, this further backs it up Smilie

I was going to bite.... but I'd rather have a good pair of headphones for a lil more money.

How are these for comfort? I wear my BT headset all day in the office and haven't found any with good runtime and comfort for wearing them all day.

6 hours runtime looks good, but not if they can't be comfortably worn that long. I have Plantronics Backbeat 903+ that run 7+ hours, but start to get uncomfortable after 2 and actually hurt after about 4. I changed to Jabra Sport which are comfortable enough to wear forever, but their runtime is only about 4 hours so I have to take them off and charge them during the day.

Anyone have experience with wearing these all day? Also, is the 6 hour advertised runtime accurate?

In my experience, no. I get at most 3.5, just listening to music (i.e. no calling, voice dialing, etc.)

And my experience with it's range has been so-so. When briskly walking, if my phone is on my hip, the audio cuts out. But if I keep the phone at chest height (haven't tried lower, between chest and hip,) no problems. Also, for some reason, my GS3 does not work too well with these headphones. Someone said previously that they can keep their Nexus 4 in their pocket or on the ground at the gym and have no problems--not me (with the GS3.) However, if I use my 3 year old BlackBerry, no problems except for the brisk walking issue. Go figure.

I had the same email. Jaybird says they will be the ones sending out the orders and we will receive a separate email from Jaybird once they have actually been shipped out.

Just contacted them again today. Got my tracking number directly from Jaybird's live help. Told them that I contacted them a few days ago and was told that I would be emailed. The rep looked up my info and provided my tracking number.

It was shipped out (via Fedex) on Monday and should arrive by tomorrow Smilie
