I am picking mine up Saturday morning. I spoke to two different guys on Iowa Gun Trader that had nothing but good things to say about it. It is a bit smaller, in terms of interior cubic feet, than some of the comparable models offered from like Menards or Tractor Supply, but at the same time, this is digital locak (with hidden key access) and about half the price.

Also, online reviews I have found on it seem pretty decent. Mine will be 300+ lbs loaded, and bolted down, so I think it will serve its purpose, to protect my firearms and ammunition.

A well thought out and insightful response, thanks. There is still hope for the internet.

As much as I love shopping at harbor freight. Safes like these are pointless. They provide more an illusion of security rather than actual. They are pretty easy to break into.

better to spend money for a quality amsec or sturdysafe and bolt that sucker down

I wouldn't call it "pointless". All safes can be broken into, it's just a matter of how much one is willing to spend versus how long you want it to stand up to a thief. It's perfect for safely storing firearms and other items out of the reach of children, if that's your main intent. Also, it's $240; I suspect that's a lot less than the other brands you mentioned.

So, if one's budget allows for no safe or this $240 Harbor Freight safe, I'd go with the HF model every time.

small children, perhaps. But I wouldn't use this for firearms. Firearms are expensive and so is ammo. So there's no reason to be cheap. You may intend it just to keep kids out but more than just kids want to get at firearms sometimes.

I watched your videos. If your teenagers are trying to drill into your safe to get at what's inside, you've already got big problems, so I think the HF model is good enough to keep firearms out of the hands of children if that is your intention. Also, most burglaries are not done by a team of professional lockpickers, they're done by a crackhead looking for a quick score.

I'm not saying that this is a top of the line safe. I'm saying that if you have nothing now, this is infinitely better than that, and not everyone's budget allows for a top of the line model. It'll easily give you $240 worth of resistance to a burglar or kid trying to access your firearms, so it has its place in this world.

Yea. A crackhead isnt lugging around a drill, extension cord, and interested in making a ton of noise... I highly suspect this safe would keep the average burglar (and kids) at bay.

Shipping is via truck freight. I was quoted $95 for shipping to my door. That's why I plan to pick up in-store instead, which is about 60 miles away. Fuel there are back is still considerably cheaper than the shipping, for me.

Getting it upstairs = Appliance dolly woot
