umm.. I think Napster takes most of the credit for reshaping the music industry.. Apple just did the same thing in a way while collecting a profit.

How was the music industry reformed? Actually the courts shut down napster.. so the government did. They paid fines, penalties etc.. They were told they needed to make it so 0% of copyrighted material was inaccessible (99.4% wasn't good enough). Then off shore torrenting became more prevalent and the government couldn't do anything. Then EFF and RIAA etc.. etc.. now ISP's can warn you etc.. etc..

but no.. let's credit Apple w/ doing the same thing done for years.. but with a price tag?

there's a purpose to this too.. The idea is cost and convenience. Rather than carry a very sensitive physical piece of equipment, maybe 6 inches in diameter. I can store it, millions of songs in central tiny location. Easily transferable etc.. can buy individual songs vs. full albums.

Consumers demand.. companies offering emerge. Unlike ObamaCare where consumers rejected and government pushed through legislation. It's like when you hear a mother try and feed a kid green peas baby food or something.. just try it.. you'll like it. Even if the baby doesn't like it.. it's gonna keep getting shoveled into his mouth. Afterall it's for their own good.
