All used oil analysis points at it being an excellent oil. Low wearing, long lasting, etc.

The 3.7L in my G is known to be very hard on oil, so anything that can produce a good UOA even after extended mileage has to be an excellent oil. Platinum is OK, but Ultra seems to be the best for that engine.

I actually havent done a UOA on my own engine since its such low mileage, but judging from all the others that have had them done and posted them, its definitely one of (if not THE) best choice. Mobil1 0-40 is excellent too, but very hard to find around here. Amsoil, Redline are slightly better, but not at all available locally and all the internet dealers charge MSRP per quart.

First, thanks OP. Great deal on synthetic motor oil. I use synthetic exclusively in my 95 Ranger that I have owned since new and has a paltry 90,000 miles on it. I did notice about a 1.5 (maybe slightly more) mpg increase in combined driving when I went to synthetic about 12 years ago. Changing my own oil is one of my more enjoyable duties too.

Second, can anyone tell me if the extended life filters (Fram sells a number of different variates) are worth the extra money? Or the Mobile 1 filter? I will do a search on bobtheoilguy but if anyone else has some data on them, I would appreciate it. I generally use Fram or Motorcraft standard filters. My mechanics have always, without hesitation, recommended Wix filters, but they are a bit hard to find and I buy most of my oil at WMT and hate to make a second trip to the auto parts store to buy the filter, hence I go with the tried and trusted Fram PH8A or Motorcraft FL-1A (I've owned a number of Fords and have bought more of those filters than I can count).

Well, I've used them for years and never had problems with them. Maybe you know more than I do about them, but they've served me well.

If you have a NAPA auto parts store, their NAPA Gold filters are made by WIX at least for my Titan and 4Runner. Check it out.

Did this on the 5th and the rebate info still isn't in their system yet, I'll give it another week and then return it to WM. I don't really use this oil anyhow as Rotella T is better for my application (Turbo WRX) but I bit anyhow cause it was cheap AR so I have no problem returning it.

"Problems" are relative. Just because they dont fail doesnt mean they are providing good protection. In the realm of oil filters they've become the bottom of the barrell (granted, they do have good oil filter products....the newest Tough Guard is a good filter but I think their rep is already tarnished). Their AIR filter products are still excellent though.

Id keep an eye out for the 2 pack deals on Purolator PureOnes from Amazon, or when Advance drops their price along with stacking some coupons. Excellent filter and easy to find cheap. Wix are excellent filters as well as long as you buy them from NAPA or Carquest (Wix makes the NAPA filters and the Carquest premium line), its not as easy to get genuine Wix cheaply

I use PureOne filters in all of my vehicles and Pennzoil Ultra in my "baby". The other vehicles gets QSUD or Pennzoil Plat. They all need air filters shortly and it looks like Ill be buying Fram because they are still good products.

Just picked some Ultra up from Walmart for my car since it's due for an oil change. Looks like someone went through and stole all the little rebate forms from the 5qt containers... At least you're able to get it from online.

Has anyone found one those freebie gift cards floating around? I guess I will have to hunt one down on google.
