Looks good. If that's all your looking for.. This pc will be fine.[/QUOTE]
Thanks I pulled the trigger was looking for a X51 yesterday but couldn't get anything under 600. Only concern was the HD 7570 card...I know it's weak but I should be able to play basic FPS/rpg (torchlight/D3), side scroller from time to time without much issue no? Would it be worth it to take the 620/640 instead (at 200 + more I didnt see much benefit if I am not doing hard core gaming Processor Processor: Intel Core 3rd Generation i5-3350P processor (6M Cache, up to 3.3 GHz) Operating System Windows 8 Base Dell Outlet XPS 8500 Desktop Hard Disk Drive 1TB Hard Drive, 3.5 Inch, 7200rpm, SATA Memory 8GB, DDR3 UDIMM Memory, 1600MHz, Non-ECC (2 DIMMs) Media Bay 16X DVD +/- RW Drive Video AMD Radeon HD 7570 1GB GDDR5 System Color Black Chassis w/19:1 media card reader Network Interface Card Dell Wireless 1703 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0 Keyboard English Keyboard Mouse Dell USB 6-Button Laser Mouse Hardware Upgrade 120V Power Cord Heatsink Screw Software Upgrade Windows 64 Bit Windows 64 Bit total 460 shipped! |

XPS -No SD Card Slot -Non-expandable memory -More Expensive -Crap touchpad +1080p +DisplayPort Yoga -Only 2 USB ports on opposite sides of the laptop (no joke, could be a issue for external HDDs) -Larger overall, including larger bezel. -Only 1600x900 (some could see that as a plus, less squinting) -Fan issues? +Synaptics Touchpad +Full Size HDMI Port Dimensions: XPS12: 12.5" x 8.5" x 0.8" Yoga13: 13.1" x 8.9" x 0.67" Weight: SAME (3.4 lbs) As far as the touchpad on the XPS12.... there are documented fixes for the wonkiness. I believe there's a setting for palm detection that's too aggressive. Personally, I'm happy as long as it's not 1366x768. Last edited by jnads; 03-13-2013 at 10:20 AM.. |

That said, the complaints were with the Touchpad randomly not detecting movement. It particularly shows up if you attempt to type on the keyboard while doing touch. The driver craps out and doesn't recognize touch afterward. As far as backlit keyboard.... I cringe whenever someone mentions something not having a "negative". I'm a touch-typer, so backlit keybaord is almost useless. The scenarios where it is useful, are directly canceled out by the scenarios where it is not (wonky intensity algorithms in dark room). Price won me over, for now (unless I discover more issues with the Yoga). Last edited by jnads; 03-13-2013 at 10:26 AM.. |

What do you all think about these XPS versus the Alienware X51 deals they had last week? The X51 seemed to be more bang for the buck, but you probably lose some ability to upgrade. By the same token seems like a lot of people would prefer the X51 form factor. Is either type more reliable than the other? Thanks for any thoughts!
