My first post, so be easy on me. When I went online to look at the Ducane Grill deal, I noticed this one. A four burner Master Forge Regularly $379, this is now down to $299, with free in store pick up. Combine with 10% movers coupon and Chase Freedom awards for another 6% off. Not the best reviews but it does seem decent.

Was just reading that review before you posted it.

Sometimes you do get reviews where people say , oh this broke in one day will never buy again etc. That is expected on any product, nothing is perfect and i ignore those unless the majority is all saying the same thing. In this case it seems a big factor is the material that is used. Too many times it is stated that it is poor quality, and rust is an issue. One person said it was dry and it was rusting!
My theory is with a grill you take care of the cosmetics, get a cover, clean it. Parts like knobs, burners, they all are replaceable. Unless your into looks of a grill, there is no reason why a grill can not be used for a very long time.
That is the reason i invested in a Weber, and my brother inlaw has a Ducane. Buy at the end of the season , save $100-$200. He was buying a new grill like every 2-3 years, they would rot out, from not keeping it cover or cleaning it. Last one burners cracked. This one he doesnt even cover it but has been going good for some time.

A slick deal is a good product at a good price. I don't think this grill is that but thumbs up for the effort. I don't see how people give negative for a good effort.

This is a good gas grill for the price. We use the grill a few times a week and we have not had a problem. The burners cook evenly, the stainless grates are easy to clean and the unit heats up quickly. The only downside is keeping the drip pan clean, because if I don't, I get flare-ups. I keep it covered and I wipe the outside down every few weeks with the stainless steel cleaner/polish and we haven't seen any signs of rust.

The key with this and just about any gas grill is to keep it clean, like you would any home appliance and it will perform as advertised.

FWIW - I have a similar looking cheap Chinese made grill from BJ's. I do not keep it covered so it is not as pretty as one that is covered and routinely polished. That said, it doesn't look too bad. My biggest gripe about the grill is the cheap tubular stainless steel burners. Mine last about 1 1/2 years an need to be replaced after rusting out. The replacements are about $15 per tube from Lowes or HD. When I get tired of replacing the burners, my next grill will be a Weber or Ducane.

OP - Thanks for posting!

honestly for the price of this unit compared to the one a step down I would go a step down.

4 burner: http://www.lowes.com/pd_134489-40...facetInfo=

I know its not even the same brand, but you're already buying a non weber grill from lowes.

so the reason I like these better is the cast iron grates. They distribute heat better than the stainless rods do. You can season them and they then to stand up to wear better. My dad has a cast iron grate grill and will never go back to anything else. A grill was purchased for him and he tracked down his old grill and got it back from my brother.

grill master 3 burner has a larger cooking area 580 vs 569.
total btu is 52500 vs 61500 on the master forge but thats not a huge deal to me. plenty of heat to get things rocking.
the main difference is the stainless look and the doors. Not sure if its useful storage or not but I take everything in after I'm done anyways.

I would have to agree with you. It looks like one is paying $100 extra for the stainless steel look and finish. I would rather get the 4 burner grill master for $199. Reviewers for both the master forge and the grillmaster are complaining about rust, so I figure its a wash.

you can use a dollar store spray bottle, an old rag or a "marinade brush" to run oil all over the inside of the grill after you finish. Keep it covered and I don't think rust would be much of an issue.

I just bought this grill last night hand made it a slickdeal saving an additional 20% off. Lowes accepts manufacturers and competitor coupons so I brought it a Harbor Freight 20% off single item coupon. If you read the fine print it says not on sale or discounted items. BUT when I was at checkout I saw the grill get ringed up on the computer and it didn't say any before pricing so I thought I'd give the coupon a shot. The lady accepted it and I saved an additional 20% off! Seems like a good deal already and if you can get lucky with a good checkout person you'll save an additional amount.

Let me know if you guys have any success with the coupon like I did. Smilie

Edit: also fwiw I had a char-broil cast iron grate grill and they rusted and chipped which made grilling food nasty thinking my food was getting messed up. I figured I would give stainless steel grates a try hearing they don't rust and meat doesn't stick as bad. Just my .02 on the matter of what grates to get. I also noticed when at lowes ALL the high end grills had stainless for their grates.
