just my two cents, but from what I've read I'd spend the extra dough on the Roku 3. I have two Roku 2 XS units and really like them, but they are a bit slow. Was looking at some other new streamers to see if they had faster processors, and then the Roku 3 dropped. My Roku 2 units are fairly new, and I don't really need another roku (already have four). But after reading the reviews, I'm tempted to buy one. There is definitely a slightly annoying lag on the older roku.
Having said all that, if saving 30 bucks is important, the Roku 2 XS is still a very nice streamer

Thanks for the feedback. I currently stream stuff on my LG BD670 Bluray player. Have a lot of stuttering issues when using our Playon service, and I'm not sure if it's the wifi connection, the player, or what. Just thought I might give a Roku a try to see if it did any better. When you talk about the lagging, is that when streaming something, or navigating, pausing stuff, etc?

the lag I refer to is mainly navigating the menu and opening channels. I have pretty lousy internet speeds, so I don't blame slow to start movies on the Roku. But many people are reporting better wifi and even faster wired speeds. I stream from my desktop using Plex and on the Plex forums, there is lots of favorable chatter for the new Roku over the XS. Many reports significantly less buffering.
It all sounds very promising. I'm afraid to buy one cause I'm sure it will make the lag on my older units that much more noticeable. and I don't want to have to buy 4 new Rokus

@johnnyblades - I have 30/5 internet speeds and my Roku 2 XS seems to zip along w/ little effort or lag. I am very impressed by its performance, especially for its size & low power draw. I got mine for $49 about 2 months ago on 1SaleADay.com. I'm holding out for another deal like that one
